sr20- is your igniter bolted down?

im guessing its better to have it bolted to the body of the car?

i had a problem getting no spark with the coils, the problem turned out to be the powder coating on the valve cover (redone). the hole the coil pack bolt goes through has metal running through it. The igniter has the same type of thing. im guessing it might help out with a little more spark.

From factory it is but on swaps it usually gets moved on the other side of the car and I've seen them just zip tied. the last swapped car I picked up was this way and spark wasn't affected. Your comment is interesting though.

I don't think it's critical to have the ignitor itself bolted to ground. It should be grounded through a wire on the plug.

In my SR car it's just flopping around by the ECU and it runs great. So your problem was engine grounding? Never hurts to have an overkill of engine grounds ( block, head, manifold, etc)

well the plastic on your fender cover is semi-permeable meaning that moisture can in fact infiltrate the inside of your fender and thus hinder the ability for your ignitor chip to function properly...haha jk im messing man yeah your should be find but i would still move it to be on the safe side..

When I had taylor durdan do my harness,he relocated it into the vehicle by my ecu area,so it is out of harms way and heat.I thought that was smart thing to do,especially since the car will used for road racing and time attack.

You guys realize that the Q45 has the ignitor chips bolted onto the valve covers right?

So heat and moisture shouldn't affect them.

stuffed over by the wiper amp. Been that way for a few years now. The metal inserts you speak of are threaded on the coilpack; the ones in the igniter are not...
