View Full Version : big set back in my car build :(

well i am finally getting enough time to write and put pics on my computer about the set back. i had been buying and storing all of my parts in my house, to eventually put it all together at once...didnt work out that way. At 12am on December 7th, the house went up in flames. hah it was a huge fire...23 fire departments had to come out, over 300 fire fighters, 50+ fire trucks and water tankers, and it lasted for nearly 8 hours. about 2 hours in the tankers and trucks ran out of water, so they pumped water from every place available...they pumped the water out of the pool, out of the lake, and they were even pumping water out of a creek down the street. also, the 25mph winds that night didnt help at all, it was blowing it towards the rest of the house and was only stirring up the fire more.

I lost nearly $35,000 in car parts alone hah its horrible to say but its true. I had anything from my OS Gikon twin plate clutch, takata harnesses, all the way to custom fuel rail, injectors, brake setup, turbo setup by full-race, AEM standalone hah tons of stuff. But in the end, luckly the my family and my english bulldog made it out okay and ALSO, that the fire was not our fault. A week before the fire, we had a guy come and do a heating system in the house and he was supossed to use triple wall piping and he only used single walled piping, and the insurance company already found all of the evidence and they say its an easy case. Another plus is that its not just your average one man heating company, it was a nation wide company so hopefully insurance will cover all of the losses...including the car parts.

I cant give enough thank yous to the fire department who saved what they could of the house. they said about half the house is a complete loss and the other half of the house is repairable but has TONS of water damage. the fire department did an outstanding job though. the house was also a business, brandywine manor house, (its in honey brook, pa) which will hopefully be back up and running in the spring, Lord willing. Anyways, thats the story of the delay on my car build. hopefully i can get things rolling again in a few months hah im very optimistic, its just car parts hah it can all get replaced. well, hopefully you enjoyed my story and hopefully i can get a build thread going in two or so months. Thanks for reading guys.

thanks for all the support guys. yeah, im kind of sure i shouldnt have a problem getting everything covered since it was the heating company's fault. we actually finally moved out of the hotel a couple days ago, so that was great...starting to go nuts in there hah.

Thank god for home owner insurance! I know in Some states they don't require you to have any but in Canada you can't purchase a house without it. I hope they come through and if you used CC's to make your purchases, then you've got billing proof right there.

Thanks again everyone! Found some car parts in the house today hah only had to search under about 2 feet of wood, stone, ect. hah my sway bar was bent at about a 45 degree angle :( I'll have to take some pics of this stuff. So far, none of the parts are actually useable but eh, insurance should be able to cover it. I think some of the parts i had in my storage unit, i will be selling soon just because the build will not be started again for at least a few months. Also, i think since i lost most of the parts, il go in a different direction with the car...since im basically starting from scratch. But just so everyone knows, i will not give up on this build :)

Thanks again for the support, everyone! Means alot.

things happen for a reason, yeah that's a lot of money in shit that probably will take a long time to replace but it coulda been worse
I personally hate this saying because if something bad happens I can never define the reason, or get an answer to why it happened. I Hate the saying, HATE IT! But ur right it coulda been worse dude, a human life is far more valuable than material things. The parts can be replaced, but yourfamily cant. In this situation it might be hard to be optimistic but u gotta always look on the bright side of things...sorry for ur losses, best of luck to ya.

I feel your pain. We lost our apartment to a fire a few months ago: Apartment fire in Ghent area of Norfolk| wavy.com (http://www.fox43tv.com/dpps/news/local/apartment-fire-in-ghent-area-of-norfolk_3621625), and just last week the house we moved into was robbed over Christmas weekend.

Just be aware that you can claim the things you lost as Causality Losses in your federal taxes.

Get an attorney quick and how ever much you lost financially due to the fire do not settle. Take them for every penny they got and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Sorry for the loss I know how it feels.

Wow! to the post above me. What kind of thinking is that?

First off I'm sorry about the fire and the damages it caused you and your family. Glad to know that you are healthy to survive and live to tel about it. I am happy to know that your family is all OK.

To the poster above me, I am not really sure where you are coming off saying "take everything that they got" I do realize that it is the heating company's fault but did you not think about their family that has nothing to do with what the heating company owner did?

Taking everything is GREED, and that will kill you my friend. Let them pay for all the physical damages and other damages that occured, Fine them and take away their heating license so they don't do it to someone else BUT leave some to them so they can get back on their feet after everything has been said and done.

That should be the way it is and not, "TAKE EVERYTHING THEY GOT" you are not going to get far in life with that attitude.

well, its time to update the status of the house hah. we have been taking it down for a couple months now and have been cleaning up all of crap from the burned down sections of the house. there is only about 2/3 of the house left standing...and another 1/3 still needs to come down but the snow has stopped that from happening for a little bit hah. we were trying to keep the one stone wall that was part of the garage...but yesturday the wind thought other wise and decided to take it down :(

on another note, the insourance company decided that they would cover my car parts even though they should ony be insouredby an auto insourance...they only agreed to because we had a long talk with them about it. well...here are some pics of its current state.

they have gone through about 30 of these dumpsters now.

you can see that where the one guy is standing, was a room hah not anymore!

fuck, like you said, they're just car parts. Look on the bright side now you can go borg warner with your full race turbo set up if you're silly enough to build a 240 and not buy a lambo with that arab money the insurance company will pay you.

=)

And most of all your family and dog is safe.
