Alright everyone, I am going to try my best to put together the ultimate trouble shooting guide for every new SR20DET owner. I have recently acquired an S15 SR20DET and a flawless S13 coupe shell and throughout my entire swap, i have learned a lot about these motors and about troubleshooting.

Newcomers to the SR20 scene often have a lot of trouble finding information to help diagnose the common problems that all of us have had when doing our first SR20 swap.

I am not taking full credit for all of the information that will be posted in this thread. I also encourage anyone that has any information or past experiences with getting an SR to run properly to post your information in this thread in an organized manner. We need HARD FACTS! not heresay or rumors. often times we listen to rumors and end up spending more money than needed on something that didnt have anything to do with the problem we run into due to the simple fact that the guy we listened to on the forum had no idea what the fuck he was talking about.

My ultimate goal for this thread is to inform all SR20 swapped 240 owners, of all procedures, and provide technical information all in one place! SO.... if you have any information that you think will be beneficial to anyone having problems with their SR please post it up!! I hope that this thread will eventually be stickied and will be a helpful source for everyone.

thanks guys,

First and foremost to all newcomers to the SR20DET motor, go to your nearest library and print out the entire factory service manual for your motor.

FSM's: Nissan Factory Service Manual (FSM) (http://www.phase2motortrend.com/nifasemaf.html)

while troubleshooting my SR, i found my FSM to be my best fuckin friend. all the information you need to get your motor running properly, will be there. i think that as far as newcomers to the scene, not everyone is extremely mechanic savvy. lets face it, SR's arent terribly expensive and just about anyone can get their hands on one if they want it bad enough. us as drift enthusiasts, need room to grow and expand and we all need help at one time or another....

If your car will crank and run cold, but won't crank again after it's already warmed up, it could be the Coolant Temp Sensor. This little 12 dollar part cost me days of frustration, and countless hours of troubleshooting. If I can offer any advice, it would be to put all new sensors in your motor when you get it, or at least change them during more extensive tuneups (trans fluid, brake rotors, calipers, etc).

The s13 fsm is the same as the s14 fsm for the most part... the only thing you have to realize is different is the whole variable valve timing. I've heard that there is no such thing as an s13 fsm in enlish. What are you having problems with? Maybe I can help. Pm me since we are trying to keep this as an informative thread... ill help you as much as I can.

You obviously can't use google.

Nissan FSM, first link.

Paypal me 5 bucks now.

S15 is the best for the EM section, use the specific chassis one ofr anything else.

I did help you.

I gave you a link to online accesible FSM's.

I also explained to you which 'manuals' were best for your car.

Too bad you were more concerned with color coding your blabber.

Re read Post 7

in fact, I'll quote it again for you

You obviously can't use google.

Nissan FSM, first link.

I 'assumed' you'd be cognisant enough of what was going on to goto google, type in "nissan fsm" and click the first link.

First link: 2009 Nissan Maxima Factory Service Manual now available! : Maxima Forum & I30 / I35 Forum (http://forums.nicoclub.com/2009-nissan-maxima-factory-service-manual-now-available-t397225.html)

Once you click that you'll see the next link:
Index of /FSM (http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM)

Which has the FSM's available for use/download of almost every Nissan out there on the road today.

And then I said:

S15 is the best for the EM section, use the specific chassis one ofr anything else.

Essentially telling you what sections were best, and implying that they'd all be found on that page.

What else did you want? For me to underline and highlight the parts IN the FSM to help you out? Don't answer, you probably would like that.

Oh well...once again, shame on me for assuming you had an IQ over 85, shame on me for assuming you could put 2 and 2 together find your answer on google, shame on me for even attempting to point you in the right direction. Shame on society for letting idiots like you pass highschool without being able to do simple research....some days I wish I could wake up and honestly be as slow as people like you...life would be so much easier expecting everyone to spoon feed me information.

Yawn. I'm tired, we're shitting up this thread (which has been covered 840586 times already). Excuse my rambling, you're probably not reading this as it is, as you were unable to figure out how to use google in the first place.
