Hey guys, I need someones help, spent a fuck load of money insuring it and taxing it. Has been fine starting the last two day. Bought it 2 days ago.

Driving along then all of a sudden just bogged down and went dead. Battery is fine. Engine turns over but doesn't start. Exhaust backfires loads.

One thing I forgot to mention is that it cut off a first time and we then tried to bump start it and jump it because we thought it was the battery. We kept doing this for a while and then gave it a little bit of gas and it started. It ran and then when I came to pull away I accelerated and it bogged out and shuddered and stopped again, still hasn't started again.
Like litterally everything went dead, as if i turned the key i just went down a small hill with no powersteering or decent brakes, so odd how it just did that. The ecu is in the footwell atm and not sure if my passenger knocked it at all?

I do not know the first thing about these engines so all the help given is greatly appreciated.

Things I have checked,
No boost leak or split pipes, inc intercooler
fuel pump primes
Spark plugs spark,
When plugs taken out and car turned over I can smell fuel and when i put my hand over the spark plug holes i get misted with fuel, so fuel is obviously getting to the engine.
Taken all ecu wires out then put them back in incase passenger did infact kick the ecu.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

maybe you lost a ground somewhere, check your engine grounds and battery ground wires. Can't help too much but definately sounds electrical. o2 sensor? check your harness make sure nothing came unplugged. Check your maf and your distributor, what engine do you have in there?

For extra gound, we have added an extra wire. How can we check the o2 sensor? Checked all the ecu wires, checked the maf, how can we check the distributor?

Its a 1.8 standard engine, with a fmic.

Thanks,

possible leaky injector.... check all of your injector o rings.
check plugs... what size gap do you have, what kind of plugs are you running
dont worry so much about 02 sensor... you can unplug the 02 sensor and the engine should fire up... only thing o2 sensor does is check air fuel mixture when running in closed loop (after motor warms up).

check your timing....
check your power to your sensors
replace your battery...

i would put my money on the grounds bro..check your fuses too could be something there..please provide more info on your engine...if its a 1.8 then it must be a ca18 but not completly sure..
