Zilvians!

I spent literally half my workday scouring the sight with every tomei cam post. I was going to model myself from the nico 9000rpm head, but wanted to clarify answers because i will not have a built block.

So my plan is to run an s15 t28dbb. I would like to rev higher than factory, so I wanted to get the Tomei 256/256 cams. I was looking at PROCAMs because from what I understand, they require solid lifters, and visa versa (solid lifters require a solid cam). Is this true? I wanted to also install tomei valve springs, so will oem retainers work? Please let me know, I realize some of this may be overkill, and I know I don't have a set power I want to achieve, I just want to see how much my budget can make. Thanks guys!

if you are going to spend all that money on the head i would DEF add a larger turbo. that is alot of work/money to spool that turbo another 2k rpms. not too mention its def. out of breath WAYYYY before 9k. its kinda pointless.

256/256 cams will match the S15 turbo very well...however will not help at all in the top end...as that S15 turbo runs out of steam around 6k...spinning it to 9k will not help anything and essentially be a waste.

You are correct that going to 9000 rpm requires solid lifters. THis also requires you knowing how to shim the head, and then adjust lash on the lifters).

With that said, how much money do you have to spend, and what are you goals? I honestly would say that going over 8000 rpm only really pretains to about 1% of the users here. If you're just going to be daily driving this and not competing with it, I'd say just get the Regular 256 Tomeis and keep the stock rev limit or sub 7800.

You should buy my GT3582R turbo kit to match your 9k redline...

thank you everyone for the advice.

I wasnt planning on going past 8500 if I had that ability. I started reading about the gt2871 turbos, and frankly 60 pages is alot. I will read through it now tho. After reading all these prior to the weekend, I started looking into a gt2860 or gt2871 because I can still use a bottom mount manifold giving me the appearance of stock, which is what I am really aiming for.

The thing with me, is that I am so used to building my IS, and studying 2jz na-t, that no one really uses cams, just the size turbo to achieve the power desired. On this build, I have no power desire goals, just what I would like to have in an engine that would be very fun to drive/slide.
