So I picked up a vg30dett from a local mustang salvage shop of all places... For 400 dollars (it gets awesome in a few sentences)
I could tell before I got the motor from pics that it had upgraded turbos, which turned out to be ball bearing JWT units.
Get the motor home, pull the pan and valve covers and low and behold the bottom end has eagle rods and je pistons.
The cams look brand new, the journals are mint. I'm thinking they are JWTs of some sort due rogue fact they have yellow bands between the rear 2-3 cylinders. I'll get pics later
Does anyone have a picture of stock cams, or know how to tell oem from aftermarket?
It looks like the motor spun two rod bearings on break in but the rods are ok, haven't looked at the journals on the crank yet, so I figure I'll probably need a new crank, bearings, and rings, plus the motor has stock headbolts (weird) so ill toss some arp head and mains on it too, plus mls headgaskets But I'm still way way ahead of the game. Looks like my s13 will be alive way sooner than I thought.
