explanation:

1. I did the auto to 5spd swap
2. I was using the auto ecu - OBDI for a while
3. I recently switched to 5spd ecu which I suspect is OBDII
4. I drive it around and shifting is much much smoother. however i notice power loss.

now i dont know if it's just me but it feels like a significant amount of power(or torque) loss. I don't feel as much of a pull in 1st and 2nd. does anyone know how much the difference is? is it significant enough that i should switch to a 5spd OBDI ECU? thanks in advance

Well, if you truly are using an OBDII ECU on an engine which was meant for OBDI, then I'm guessing you've got a bit of tuning to do. Also, you're missing a few sensors that the OBDII ECU will be looking for. Have you had your check engine light come on?

I'm assuming your check engine light is on. OBDII tries to find more sensors then you really have because you have an OBDI engine (O2 sensors, etc..) The computer is going into "fail-safe" mode resulting in a loss of power and possibly horrible gas mileage. Unless you know exactly how to modify the ecu to ignore certain sensors, it will be worth it to switch back to OBDI.
