check the VIN number.

Any turbo leak etc...

Smell if burning gas..

Ask who did the swap... where he got the SR.. etc

I would say $4000 my max.

I don't think $4,500 is unreasonable if the car is really mint.

Get out your magnet, run it over body panels to check for filler, eyeball the paint seriously, get under the car, etc.

Keep an eye out for any rust, shoddy wiring, battery location. If the car was originally an auto before the sr swap check to see if reverse lights work. Listen for potential rod knock, like ear to oil pan while running, sometimes it can be very faint. good luck though, this looks like a great deal if everything checks out.

Thank you for the tips everyone saw the car today an should be buying it this weekend I might have him bring it to a local shop to look it over just to be safe. It turned out I actually know the guy. He was in my auto class last semester. he let me take it for a spin and it ran grate no grinds or weird sounds when driving.

just wondering... why wouldn't the reverse lights work. it's as simple as 2 wires. i've done 2 auto to manual swaps but my current dd reverse lights aren't working even though they were working before. what are the problems with this?

Just a simple indication that whoever did the wiring for the swap really had no idea what they were doing, or was completely careless. It would just be something to take note of and prompt further investigation into other possible problems. I have seen many guys trying to sell off their plagued swaps because they screwed the wiring beyond belief and have no idea how to fix it.

For yours, I believe there is a reverse sensor on the transmission, you might want to check and see if it is connected/working properly.

Picked the car up today an drove it for damn near 8 hours after I got the insurance on it. Love this thing can't wait to learn the car and startworkin on it! thank you for your guys advise helped me a lot when checkin this car out asked questions that he wasn't prepared for kept him on his toes.

I have once question and will be calling the shop that tuned the car tomarrow. The guy said the bov isn't recirculated back to the intake an is just flowing open causing it to loose vacume an will die out if not brought down to idle slowly. I instanly started thinkn the tune due to it being tuned for 15psi. . Any insite would be helpful

mine was vented also. even when bov went off and i just let the revs drop all the way down it did not die. i was running z32 maf also. i also didnt have irradic idle that some 240sx have when using vented bov.

recirculate
open bov can the cause of a series of minor things like rough idle, running rich, flames out your ass, etc

ps proper sentence structure will make some of the older guys like me more willing to help you out in the future

Won't pass smog is an sr. Ask him if the welds in the diff were done by a pro welder u would not want the welds to brake and ruin ur new car. Check that the clutch grabs good and boost and oil leakS. Goodluck with the car man.

Congrats on the purchase. It looks like a good starting point.

Yeah, as ManoNegra said, recirculating the BOV will fix the idling down issue. It will cause stalling issues primarily and when you have an MAF setup (that isn't blow through) it is best to keep it recirculated. It isn't a fault of the shop who tuned it.

The ECU is NIStune and is a rechipped, reprogrammable ECU. It is a full on converted stock ECU - not a piggyback but not a standalone (think Hondata).

Good luck with the car.

I'm also running a non-recirculated BOV with no issues and no special tuning.
