I have a 1996 240sx se with the 6 speaker system. It has the 2 clarion amps in it and i'm interested in upgrading the speakers. What i'm wondering is, are the clarion amps any good? What is their power rating? Everyone complains about them but i have not seen their power ratings posted anywhere. If they produce a decent amount of power they might actually be a nice piece if coupled with some high quality speakers. If anyone has any specs on them i would appreciate it very much. Thanks!

The amp is trash. take it out, and have an aftermarket amp installed.

You will actually get better sound straight off of a good aftermarket head unit. Those amps are sad.

They are better than nothing, but are 2 Ohm instead of 4... so they will begin to distort early on a 4 Ohm system.

The amp is not 2 or 4 ohm. To clarify,if the amp is designed for 2 ohm speakers then hooking up normal 4 ohm speakers to it will give you basically half the power. This causes the early distortion, not enough power. If you are on a budget hook em up to your speakers. But the best bet is to rip that crap put and start new.
