When i start my car i have to keep the engine revved to keep it from just stalling out. and when i step on the gas a little smoke comes out, like its running too rich. after its started for a few minutes it is fine and idles fine. what could be the problem

i recently installed hotshot header, random tech cat, and 5-zigen fireball exhaust. would this have anything to do with it?? i asked this guy at the car shop and he said i may need an upgraded throttle body?

anyone had this problem before?

im not sure, but i'll throw some possible ideas out there. maybe your idle is messed up and you need to redo the timing. also, if your smoke is white, it could mean your engine is buring coolant or you have a headgasket leak. blue smoke could mean oil burning.

let me guess, 89-90 sohc right? check your timing, symtoms say its to retarded. should be 15 degrees btdc. my car does the the same thing but i have to set it like that

edit: nm, s14. disregard what i said, but it would be wise to check your timing

Connect timing light to spark plug wire, and power source, disconnect tPS. Let car idle to warm (running temp)

Then check timing with marks on crank pulley with timing light.

i go this problem to :D , Its not ur o2 sesnor hehe, i changed mine, but my car dosen't die. Do you get smoke at a low RPM? "900-1700" i'm gonna change my injectors, if that dosen't work, i'm going to change my head gasket. If you figure it out, please let me know!!!!!

Check MAF, MAF connector, AIV.

It should cost you no more than a can of carb cleaner to fix.

Clean or replace your plugs, also, as they'll be carbon fouled from running rich.
