(1993 240sx vert) ok, so my windshield wipers stopped working randomly, and it wasnt a problem until it started raining a lot lately, and rain-x isnt cutting it for me anymore. i replaced the wiper motor, but the wipers still wont work. based on what i have read on other threads and other forums, i found out that there is an amp on the drivers side near the master cylinder, and i looked at mine and it doesnt look obviously damaged, i.e. wires arent disconnected or anything. my question is this, is there any way i can test this amp, and also, is there a fuse or a relay somewhere that i just havent found? i looked at both relay panels under the hood and the diagrams on the covers dont say anything about wipers. also, is it possible that the switch in the steering column is bad? any advice on how to test these would be greatly appreciated. i have a multimeter and a decent understanding of electricity, but i just cant seem to figure this out. also if anyone has a spare working wiper amp close to oceanside ca, i'd be willing to buy it off them if that winds up being the problem. thanks

Replacing the ignition switch is a good place to start. It's easily accessible (fairly anyways), and it goes bad over time. So if you replace it, and it doesn't fix the problem... no harm no foul... something that's good to do anyways.

I had the same problem though on my s14... first the windshield wipers went, then power mirrors, then radio. The ignition switch was the culprit in my case.

As far as I know though, no way to test to see if that's the problem.

I just replaced my engine harness with a brand new one from Wiring Specialties (S13 SR to S14 chassis). That's when I notice my old wiper amp has a different plug receptacle (wider like the MAF plug) than the one on the harness.

Got a wiper amp, plugged it in, and does not work. Checked the wiper fuse under the dash and it was blown. Replaced fuse and blew it again when I turned on wiper.

Anyone please tell me any idea what's going on?

You need the appropriate Amp for the chassis, S-Chassis are picky on the AMPs

when i wired up my RB harness I used the RB wiper amp and my Intermittent function doesnt work now.

Let Yury know and see what he says

Can you hear the motor making noise when you turn them on?

My wipers weren't working but I could hear the motor kicking so I removed all the plastic in front of the windshield and it ended up being they somehow got disconnected from the wiper motor arm. Try checking there its only a couple of screws and then just look under to see that their connected.

Start with the switch. Most common thing to fail. Then check voltage at the motor. I think the exact proceedure is in the FSM

Got the S14 one to which the plug from the new harness fit perfectly. The old amp would not have fit on the new plug from the new harness which had my wipers working fine.

When I first installed the harness without the amp, I turned on the wipers and it moved a couple of inches and stopped.

Can't call Yuri until Monday so fell free to chime in any more ideas.

No motor noise at all. Wipers were working fine with the old harness/amp (different plug type like a MAF).

Will try that.

Ok my brother had the same problem. He tried everything from my car on his and still nothing. It ended up being a Blue Relay under the dash right behind the fuse box. He got his AC Relay and switched it with that one and they started working again. I hope this solves your problem and good luck.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Where your fuse box is inside the car, by your feet, on the back of that there are 4 relays. Brown, 2 blacks and then a blue one. Its the blue one, at the bottom. Stick your head down there and look. You dont need to take anything apart to see it, just use a flash light for better vision.

I forgot to put the relay back on when i put the chassis harness in. Everything works now on that circuit that is supposed to.

Replacing the blue relay solved the problem?

Was there a resolution to this issue? I have the same problem and replaced the green amp under the hood on the drivers side near the firewall. Anyone out there with the schematics?

Just FYI for something to check for... I noticed on my 95 that I just bought last week that all accessories work fine with the key in acc/run but once I crank the car I lose power to the wipers/radio/power mirrors. After some diagnosing I found out my ignition switch it going bad and if I turn the key backwards while it's running to right before the click to cut the engine off it regains power to that accy circuit.

Easy way to test is try running them in acc position to see if they function, then try while it's running and rotating the key to see if you regain power.
