Is there really any advantage of these expensive (ie: samco) radiator hoses other than looks? I've done some searching and have not seen any literature/experienced people stating that they are any better than stock factory hoses, other than looking different.

Opinions? Facts? Bring it.

Silicone radiator hoses have higher heat tolerance..they wont burst, they dont expand, etc.

They are soft, exactly like a silicone couple. There are companies out there that make a cheaper alternative like Mishimoto.

I think what StryfeS13 is trying to say is that they won't crack due to drastic temperature changes.

Price = Quality, there is no way around it.

It doesn't breakdown as fast as rubber. Tolerance to oil.

Rubber isn't volatile to oil to begin with.

That's about the biggest reason for a street car.

We use silicone hoses on race engines because we higher pressure rad caps. I have a 25lbs system on my car. I don't think rubber would stand up to this.

Rubber would stand up fine to 25 lbs coolant system pressure.

if you're not gonna race, use oe black rubber...it's cheaper and it works.
