I think you're looking for something like a FET quick release piece...

you buy quick release or snap-off hubs. Not steering wheels.

If your going to use it on the street, this is the only one that I would recommend b/c it's the only ne you can lock onto the steering column.

so i get nismo s14 hub..with a lock and release thing from the tekniq company..and a nismo steering wheel? will that work?
you'll have to get a hub (also called a "steering boss") that is made to fit nismo (same as "nardi" and "personal") steering wheel bolt patterns. They are different from Momo/Sparco patterns.

something like this?

does this hub lock and release?
Uh... no. That's just the adapter to use the nismo wheel with your car... you'll have to go to a specialty race car shop/site to get a quick-release hub. They're expensive (over $250 for a good one, even the cheapest are about $200) though, so expect to dish out a lot of money.

can you keep your stock wheel? I like the idea but how will it work if I have cruise control buttons?

you'll need to see if the tekniq thing fits the nismo hub..
it goes:
Nismo hub ->quick release ->steering wheel
email the guys at tekniq and see if it'll work. it might not. I'd say go with a different wheel, like a sparco, etc..

lol... there will never be any cruis on the steering wheel with a quick release hub.
aww, never say never!! I'm sure it can be done, but don't expect it to be particularly easy.
There are also some hubs that have quickrelease mechanisms built into them... but these are rare and ridiculously expensive. The nice nice stuff use electromagnets I think (iffy if you lose power/battery) while the somewhat cheaper ones use either hex or splined connections.
