So I need to get my ca drivers lincence. I'm licensed in a different state. I live in Burbank. Last time I went to van nuys early in the am and waited in line for 3 hours (no joke) to find out I didn't have the right papers. The Glendale office is permanently closed so I'm looking for other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

nowadays, pretty much all DMVs are busy.
Try SCV (Santa Clarita Valley).
Don't go on a Monday. Don't go the last three business days of the month.

I live around the sfv, and usually I have the best luck going Santa Monica DMV.
In the past, I would get out within an hour.
However, I think even that's getting pretty awful now.
Can't be worse than the SFV, the crowded shit-hole that it is.

quickest all depends on you.
I walk in with a cane and go straight to the disabled line, no questions asked =)
you can also put in a reservation if thats not your style.
don't go to van nuys, its horrible

Simi Valley is a good try, and also the office in Canoga Park on Sherman Way between DeSoto & Winnetka. But agreed it's pretty much hit n miss.

honestly....and in all honesty.....take the drive down to santa ana dmv. I live about an hour away from there...and their wait time is less than 30 mins. everytime I walk in. Last time I was in there, I got a tag for my registration, tag was 234, and it was on 230. while I was talking to the guy for my reg, he gave a tag for my DL...while I was talking to him, my number was already called.
I won't go anywhere else.
