Well to get one last meet in this year (or at least one last major meet), lets start talking about it.

I had in mind Sunday September 21st, at Miami Woods (the old meeting place).

As the time comes we can arrange a BBQ.

Hope you can all make it to this meet.

what about near woodfield mall

I dislike meets in parking lots of malls, unless you mean somewhere in Busse Woods. That would be a nice place we would have to get I think 40 bucks to reserve the place, I know some spots have benches and shelters which would be good if bad weather occured.

Well if you guys want to do busse woods, then could someone from the are go there look for a nice spot and find out a little more about reservations, I'll pay whoever most of the money back. If nobody can get there, I'll head over there when I pick up my hatch this week.

I guess saturday would work, see what kind of response we get on a saturday since we never had one on a saturday. Saturday the 20th?

Hopefully the weather is decent, its starting to get real hot during the days now (but I guess I have been out of state for a while).

gmgs14 - I dont even know if I have ever seen you at a meet, you always respond but never make it :(, hope you can make it out to this one.

I guess everything will be finalized once I get over to Busse Woods and pick a spot and put some money down for it. Prolly wedenesday.

SEPT 21...Hummm...I might be able to do this one..can't drive it..no enough hrs (frigging 60 hr drive round trip)

How will the temps be..like 45 degree nights?

We rarely see below 50 here on the coolest days ever..so I need to prepare. It is shorts and slaps year around here....

I was in Chicago on May 2nd 91 and froze my azz off.

Logistics seem close to right for that date..keep me posted please..PM does work again..not full.

The problem with meeting at a resturant is that then we go outside to look at cars and mill arround in the late afternoon or evening. It could be kind of cold.

In my opinion the format of meeting in the afternoon and going to a resturant for dinner works best. That way we can go in to warm up if its cold. Just need to post it here so the people are aware about it and stick arround (if they are interested in eating). Basicly like McD's at the meet by the lake, but with more people sticking arround. I think its going to be hard to get too many people for a lunch because people like to show up at their own convience and sleep in. Plus there are people driving a long ways to get here.

Just my opinion.

PS bill that would be awesome if you came up. Meeting people from other areas is always cool.

gmgs14 - I guess my memory is bad, which person were you? I was there, just dont remember everyone.

On the whole food thing, I would have to agree with Duff, first chat about our cars, put names and cars together, and get some pics. That can be like 12-2, then head over to some place to eat together and talk. Somewhere with a big parkinglot and big tables.

If we do it that way then no need to reserve Busse Woods, we could just raid one of the spots there (shouldnt be full that time of the year anyway), then head over to a resteraunt somewhere in schaumburg.

Anyone still have a map of Busse Woods? Then we could get a map of which spot to go to.

Once the location gets finalized (where to eat can be decided at the meet), and we get a map, I'll update the site, and get Art to send an e-mail to everyone.

Bill- Hope you can make it out, don't worry about not showing up in a 240, thats my style :D.

Theres a Chilis there:confused: , have i been away from that area for that long. Anyways ya that sounds good.

About the list I guess I'll grab it and start going through these threads and PMs I've gotten and add up these names.

Bill imma put you on the list do you want me to take you off after the meet? Don't want to keep bothering you about meets next year.

So Saturday, September 21 @ Miami Woods 12PM-2PM 2 to whatever eat at resteraunt, possible cruise or something afterwords (discuss at lunch).

I'll post on other forums, anything I miss post it.

gmgs14 - ya now I remember, whatever happened to heather, she never posts anymore

EDIT: I lost the list, anyone have it saved?

Bill Roberts

Kid , heres the deal I wanna attend and swap knowledge and stories, I know you guys are fning cool.

Keep me on the list..when it gets close..I will make arrangements to make it there if someone wants to pick me up..that is even more cool.

I just wanna jam, share some music and car talk...and help if I can with some mod factors.

I like your vibes and I NEED to get up there for plenty of reasons..
Getting some Chicago food is always right on. Keep me away from tequila...

Beer and boubon is ok...and Grand Marnier.

Like to also ride out with some peeps wanting to cruise.

I promise to bring some vid of some of my ride arounds. You guys will trip to what goes down around here...outragous.

Nest post a pic..I edited and forgot (duh)

On the subject of the Chicago area parts trade...

Hey james you have an extra pedal and m/c from your clip right. Pearlwhite needs that + a clutch line.

Not sure if s13 and s14 pedals and m/c's will bolt up in place of each other but its a thought. I dont think the JDM mc is exactly the same as even the USDM s13 MC but i heard somewhere you could use it. It might be cheaper to get hardline bent by a shop than finding it in a junk yard anyways in which case it wouldnt matter.

Also, I need the soft line that goes to the slave cylinder. It looks like the previous owner of my 90 cut it to get the tranny off. WTF?!?! Heh so if you have one or see one in a junk yard I'd buy it.

Sup guys, it's been awhile..

DUFFMAN! Where the hell are you? We (guys from www.ClubFR.net) went drifting last night. You should come check it out since I haven't seen you on the board. BTW, Kid, the guys wanted me to give you a call last night but it was like 1am when we took a coffee break in the "tea party". I didn't know if you were sleeping or downloading your hentai or whatnot.

James - The skirts I was thinking of arent even made by Bomex, I am thinking of the ones on PDMs site. And seeing as how their lip is a bomex rip-off, i thought the skirts were too. The bomex ones seem to flashy for me, just want something to go with the lip (not overshine the lip).

Crab Spirits - Lets see at 1 I think I was done downloa... I mean watching tv:p . I'm not a late night tea drinker but I guess its time to start :D . I havent started school yet so I am still up all night anyways.

JDM180SX
08-28-2003, 11:23 PM
James - I wonder who it was you got them from??? Hee hee. Well, her car was originally red from what I can tell but it was repainted maroonish like the S13 coupes came in. So, I guess a redish lip would be cool.

And for all of you out there....I'm still lookin for a 91-94 stock front bumper w/lip (not the 89-90 lip). I don't know if those who did the Silvia Group Buy have gotten them yet but if anyone has a Front Bumper I'm interested...Pref Grey/Charcoal but any color is fine. Just PM me a price.

hey... you wouldn't mind a slightly riced up 240 showin up at the meet, would ya?? so maybe you'll ask, "if you know you're riced, then why do it?" well trust me, I have my reasons and one of them is to NOT have a mistaken identity problem, which i know wouldn't happen now. i mean, you know i check out the galleries and stuff, and i read people's comments on them, and i noticed a lot of people don't like some things that i do, and i guess that might discourage me a lil from going to the meets. maybe we can all get along someday???

X1nom3D - Whoa your car looks umm interesting, not my style but I can appreciate someone who does the paint themselves, especially something so indepth. Sucks what happened with the Do-Luck front end, looked real nice then.

Just a little friendly advice...Who cares if you riced out your car some. I riced out a 79 Cutlass when it was new not knowing that it looked kinda wierd...but it was what I wanted and I got many trophies for "originallity and style" with it. You don't need to be like everyone else. Just because a lot of folks think rice is kinda posey and kiddish does not mean that for everyone. IF you like what tyou did then...keep it..don't worry about what others say...if you "personally" have a change of heart...change it...but because someone or even a lot of folks might not like it does not matter. It is what you like that counts. Personally, I like a bone stock looking car that is fast enough to give vettes a hard time and especially with a quiet exhaust. We call them "Sleepers"

When I did my cutlass, it was not only fairly quick and I had some fake badges on it too (1979) but everyone asked if it was a turbo...because I had the turbo 3.8 insignia on it...when it was a 4.3V8 and not a 3.8V6

I even told folks that I ran it on the track some...(well I did 2 times) by todays standards, that car was kinda slow...0-60 in 8 and 1/4 in 17 but I use to drive it like it was fast...

Be yourself...if anyone disses you because it is rice...have them take a peek in the mirror for a glance.

Do your own thing...even if it is wrong.

08-29-2003, 07:04 PM
rice this rice that......mine will win the rice award :fawk:

nobody is gonna beat my 3 tone exterior, rust/dent on both doors, bigger tires in the front than rear, loud fart can, and to top it all off reverse indiglo guages  and i will ride in with a YELLOW donut in the front :D :D :D :D :D

Ok James, I dont see what your problem is having to be negitive towards me. Everyhing that you have ever said or replied back about me is always some kind of way of putting me down. The list that I have is a list that I put together, I dont know where the word "owns" come from. I do participate in online conversations, just cause I dont talk to you dont mean that I dont. I talk to UIUC and Kidynomite online. Dont forget that I am the one that put the meets together too. I chose the place and time by myself, now someone else is doing it. All you people that go online and talk, my sn is MI SO FST. Talk to me, ask me, bitch at me. I talk to so many 240 people. They just are more into asking stuff about the car not meets. You've got PM :D .
I hope this means you're going to post/reply and chit-chat/answer questions with other 240 guys more often other than announcing "your annual meet" and whenever you need to sell stuff.
So...Anything else to contribute besides thinking I have a beef with you? Any thoughts on the meet we have planned, ya coming?... etc etc etc....How's the car running/coming along? What do you think of Kid's 240 purchase? Stuff like that....chit chat. By the way- how come you don't post on here except when you annouce your meet or when you sell stuff? Does it bother you if your list is handed to someone that actively participates on forums and can gather/add new names/make better use of it?

{everyone welcome MI SO FST to Zilvia!!!}

I dont care if you take my list and make it grow, thats fine by me. I reason I dont reply forums is cause I dont really have much time to get on. I answer questions to people all the time, but on AIM. At the meet, I talk to many people, just cause I havent talk to you much doesnt mean that I dont talk/SMILE at the meets.

As for my car, its not running good at all, I just recently messed up my head by blowing out a spark plug and breaking my coilpack. I am looking for a new SR head right now if any of you know anybody. If I can get my car to the meet, I will be there with it, if not then I will be there with something else.

So what's this I hear about a signal drift exibition in Toronto the same day as our meet? I know that's far away for most but just hoping nobody's going to skip out on the meet to hit this up unless we all want to go! I'm just hoping for a lot of cars this time at the meet.

James: I dont have a sister and mikey does know who took his car, he is just waiting to get some more info on it. I did call soko and they dont just sell the heads. The threads where I put in the plugs are striped. So i think its better for me just to get a head. Do you have any spare wiring harnesses that go to the coilpacks? That is another think that I need. Let me know and thanks.

This may sound stupid but they make inserts to replace stripped spark plug holes. The head will need to be removed probably to keep metal shavings out of the cylinder but I think this think is called a helicoil. I actually had a mazda truck that I blew a plug out of and took it to a machine shop. The bored the hole larger, put an insert plug in the hole, and tapped the inside of the sleeve for my sparkplug. I never had a problem with it. They had to press the insert in with a 10 ton press...being ever so careful to not damage the aluminum head.

If it is cut right and tapped right, it will be solid. They also said they could make a threaded insert. I opted for the "bushing" press fitted and lock tight was also used. Solid repair.

It can be done...much cheaper than a head replacement.

Fellows, we have a company event "to be announced" that might shoot a hole in my plans for coming up there and hanging out...right now...it does not look good..perhaps next spring around May if that is feasable.

Their is always something getting in the way of my plans. Have not been able to hang with my friends in my home town since Jan 02...

Do try to get that repair done...much better option than a new head IMHO.

DuffMan
09-02-2003, 09:25 PM
Yeah, Bill's got it. I was about to post that but you beat me to it. Helicoils can fix this. I bet a machine shop could take care of the whole process once the head is off. I had a 85 fiero with an iron head and the head had major rust arround the spark plugs, so I had to look into that. I ended up not doing it, but from what I understand it should be very reliable.

James I got ecu and harness, and even tested them, they are working. SR gets delivered tomorrow, I'm giddy :D

Damn you already got to the valve cover I just paid for it today. Still not sure exactly when its going in, I'm debating whether or not to go with a greddy pan. It doesnt really go with my whole ghetto-jury-rigged theme I've got going. Most likely it will be going in soon, but its flexable so I can borrow the hoist whenever you're not using it.

Yes its at miami woods, at the corner of oakton and caldwell, there are two entrances to the preserve. One on caldwell and one on oakton. Enter on Caldwell cuz IIRC they are two different sections.

Where and what is Victory? I would be willing to come out.

DuffMan
09-04-2003, 10:59 PM
Mini-meet at victory sounds like a good idea. I havent been there in a while.

Btw, I removed the oil pan from the sr and found a lot of sludge in it. Anything to be woried about? The only engines I have torn down before are my 2 busted E's and they had sluge but were sitting for a while with the heads off.

Bill Roberts
09-04-2003, 11:28 PM
Sludge means the oil was allowed to turn black before a change. All pans will contain sludge. INMO, Turbo cars should have oil changed the moment one notices a change in oil color from new or a change in the smell (contaminants).

My engines (all of them) have been changed this way. you take the top off, they all look brand new, nice and shiny...sometimes 600 miles is too long, othertimes 3K and still perfect.

Check for color and change.

I suppose an old woman owned it and did not care...or it was simply not kept up.

Hope this sheds some light.

DuffMan
09-04-2003, 11:38 PM
Well the oil was drained before i got the engine so all i have is what is in the part of the pan lower than the drain hole. I'm not sure if that is just from sitting or is it normal for sluge to form at the bottom of an oil pan?

lol you victory whores, :p.

Anyways there is an S14 with a 3 inch cat in lockport if anyone cares, although I think someone else is claiming the seats (not to sure anymore since he might sell his car). The whole front end is torched though, and not sure on lsd. The guys over there are jackasses and didnt know what an lsd was, and didnt want to lift the car for me to do the wheel spin test. Theres also an s13 from what I saw, prolly more in there.

All imports, but you cant just roam around in there like victory which sucks.

JDM180SX: You work at harlem and belmont? Im in that area every stinkin day!;) Would be really nice to hang with some of you locals every now and then.

In either case, I will definitely make this meet now that I have what I like to call a 240. It needs sooooo much work but maybe I can get some "live" help n tips from you fellas at the meet.

Miami Woods? 20th?

I'll bring a friend or two ... If they're up for it you may see an '02 WRX, a 3rd Gen RX-7 TT, '01 Firebird V6 (crapcar) and perhaps a 95 240 with skyline tailights and KA-T in the works.

Hope all goes well... I'll be there with my barely running '90 Coupe.:D

:hammer:

:::edit:::

BTW, Im wanting to swap in a reliable KA24E SOHC into my car to use over the winter so if anyone has one available please let me know sometime this upcoming week and I will arrange a price. Im also in need of working gauges... HUD too...

I hope someone is selling a good KA...;)

BeatJunky - you could always get a dohc, not too much extra work, guess it'll really come down to what has a better deal. There should be a write up on it somewhere on the board.

And ya the 20th at miami woods, noon, bring whoever, its all good.

nismofiend - James said there is a an 89 and a 91 (5speed), but pretty much stripped. Those cars get stripped so quickly.

Well for directions, there is no address, so just punch in "Oakton and caldwell" dont remember if they are streets or avenues, but it should point you to the intersection. gmgs14 i sent you a pm about it, but after you get to the intersection, you'd be going north on caldwell (its the curvy road), then turn right if you are driving north on caldwell, the preserve(trees) will be on your right, if you are going south make a left into the preserve, there is a sign and only one entrance on caldwell.

Call me @ 847-606-0844 if you get lost.

S15???

I highly doubt you saw an S15, there are very few in the US, kind of a waste of money IMO.

But ya there are lots of S15 front ends on S14s, eclipses, integras, Camry   , prolly more but thats all I have seen so far.

BeatJunky - were you in the maroon coupe? I was chillen outside of my shop about that time and I saw a white coupe then a maroon coupe w/an exhaust. My car would have been in front on Harlem but I had just moved it to my lot area.

Yeah, those two were headed to my shop...One is an aquaintance in my field (Black hatch) the other is his friend (gold hatch). I switched front bumpers with the gold one (swap + some cash my way). Both of are kinda ricey, they started on their cars before I could help em out. But, I still need another stock 91-94 bumper guys!

Anyway, I'm thinkin of taking them to the meet coming up but you guys guys have to be nice! Don't blame them for how their cars look. I'm tryin to guide them away from the ugliness and they don't need more ridicule (although I do laugh at them a bit when they leave :D ). K, we'll see if they show or not.

yea, it should be okay to drive around with it like that for a while. when it happened to me, I drove to a few shops and had them look at it, i swear they don't know what they're talking about. one guy said my rod blew, and blah blah blah. so that it would cost me a bit over a grand to get it fixed. boy, i had no money, so i was forced to drive with 3 injectors. and plus, i didn't know what was wrong with it at the time. i thought it was the ignition, but then, i changed the whole thing, later on, i knew it wasn't a broken rod because once in a while, the faulty injector would resurrect itself and work again, so i knew it was a fuel problem. it's better than DRIVING with all 4 injectors but only 3 spark plugs, cause you'll have a bunch of unburned fuel in the chamber(although this is cheaper to fix).

Yeah, doing it yourself would probably be best. GRD has a dyno but I seriously doubt they can tune Nissan ECU's unless you buy a full standalone. It would probably take them forever to finish it, assuming they even can.

sorry this post is so damn long i'm not gonna look on every post, but did the meet get switched to sat? if so i cant make it  :(

as for the people talking about SR swaps, yes we havent done one yet but that's only because no one has given us the opportunity to do one. we all know engine swaps are not the hardest thing in the world, as a matter of fact the only thing difficult to do is the wiring. for comparision purposes, a few years back before the H22 into EG (92-95 civic chassis) became real popular me and my friends were one of the first ones to do them and we even had a complete do-it-yourself CD circulating for quite sometime. and that was the most ridiculous wiring job from hell that i can imagine. so if we can handle that i dont see how we cant handle the SR wiring particularly since one of our guys did work on a friend's 200SX which was being equipped with a bluebird (the wiring from that one to the RWD SR should be pretty similar). but anyways of course doing it yourself is great and since a few ppl around here are available for help and with all the tools/resources available online i wouldnt see any reason why you cant do it yourself. just make sure yall come talk to us to pick up the swaps :D

BTW i have a few S13 front end conversions in stock now and a few local guys i brought it in for flaked on them so anybody that wants or is looking for it give me a call

DuffMan

Yeah I don't understand all the strife about which shop is best. I think we should just be glad that Chicago has some cool shops unlike before where shops would start swaps, take for ever, and give up half way through.

Of course, I'm too poor to actually pay someone to work on my car, but its all good.

Hmm I say we meet up a little south of that Jewel. Mainly cuz it'll be a bitch getting in and out of that place (well if there is more than a couple of us).

So I say meet up in front of the starbucks on Rt.53, its inbetween the Krispy Kreme and Cinmeark/IMAX theater. Its easier to get in and out of, plus easily viewable from road.

So between Maple and 75th Street on Rt.53. For those who dont know where Maple is, its south of Ogden (Rt. 31 or is it 30). Try and get there by 11 (call me at 847 606-0844 if you can't find me)

Just incase you don't know how to get there follow this: (anyone coming with I'll tell you again just incase we lose each other)
Taking 88E to 294N, exit at Dempster East, Follow Dempster east, then flip off my old HS :p , then right on Waukegan, merge left to caldwell, turn left into Miami Woods.

I'll call Eric tomorrow (uiuc240) and see if he is coming to the meet at all.

EDIT: Its 90 cents in toll to get there (one 40 and one 50), and two 40s to get back.

geez tim you don't tell them that rx7s and porsches can run, thats just not fair.

Don't they have a bunch of little categories that go by average time then take the best time?

Or is that a diff club?

I am still gonna try and make it there, dunno if I will have any money but we'll see.

Sorry dudes, I have had plans for over a month to go to Peoria for International Beer Fest. I mean, c'mon...how can you pass that up?! It's BEER!

So, try and have fun without me and my lumpy-idling beast ;)

Maybe next time there will be new parts on my car. Oh, this time you would have gotten to see my recently de-riced headlights! I took out the PIAA bulbs (one died) and put in the Hella bulbs that came from Don. Good lighting, just a little yellowish. Oh well. Attracts less attention from Johnny Law.

Peace out.

Eric

p.s. I'm not around much because of two reasons:

1. Work. Burns me out and keeps me busy (no more time for Zilvia at the office).
2. Girlfriend. She's more fun than typing. Hahaha. I'm sure that will wear off soon enough. :D

:axe:

Damn you and your beer swilling, girlfriend hanging-out-with self.

I can understand not having Zilvia as a priority though. It gets lamer every day. Are you planning to throw that T28 in your car soon? My garage should be open soon. I plan to get the SR in and limp my POS out into the parking lot with just an open throttle body.

Great Meet! Thanks to all those who came out, a lot less than I expected, but its all good. Thanks to the out of towners who made the trip.

Here is a quick run down on what happened:

Got to Miami Woods, stole a table from some italian picnic, never gave it back. Killed some bees, sat around and talked for a few hours.

Then we left for some food, of course Dave let his stomach lead, but he decided to take the long way and lost the rest of us, and left Crab to lead who in the end got us lost. So I had to lead us back, but I think I made everyone run some lights. Leading ~10 cars where only two people knew where they were going is a pain.

Got to portillos ate talked a bit more, then most of us parted ways.

Me Duff and the banned guy stuck around in the parking lot talking for like 4 hours, got a lot of funny looks from people. Spotted some nice rims on an FC, anyone know if they are 4x100 or 4x114.3?

After standing in the portillos parking lot freezing out asses off we headed to McDonalds for like another 3 hours and ate again, and talked about funny schemes that would make Duffs install cheaper :D.

So basically we spent 12 hours on a meet :D well just the 3 of us.

Now to install my s14 seats (thanks stuntman!), and install the "mystery tube"

I will have pics up soon just gotta figure out why Imagestation is being stupid.

P.S. The banned guy says hi:)

Hey man, It wasn't my fault. I called Dave after he took off like a bat out of hell and he told me the wrong street.

Where the hell was everybody?!!! A nice day. What the hell?
A list must be prepared of all the deadbeats. I want inquiries made!!!!:axe:

It was cool meeting everyone.

Stuntman, I should have taken your number. After the meet, I put in the Cusco and now I'm all antsy for some Tea Party action.

Phay, your car has inspired me to paint my car bass boat stylee.:boink:

Wow, I just barely made it to the meet. My battery had gone bad Friday night and I had to spend the first few hours before the meet buying a bettery, changing the couplings and ghetto rigging the wiring just to get there, late. BUT I got there and I'm glad i made it. Lots of cars, new people, old people w/new things. Good to catch up w/everyone. I'm happy to see everyones projects getting closer to completion. Hopefully by the time the first meet comes around next year I'll be done and my sisters 240 will have some more work done to it. Hope to catch you all out there on the road!

One of these dats I need to go and clean it up, I just did it ****tily so i would know if it works. Thanks stuntman :D

The seats are freakin awesome. I liked my S13 seats, and never thought that the S14 seats would be that much better, but damn they are freakin great. Now I see why the 180sx changed from the ****ty seats we get to the s14 seats.

Anyone with an S13 get S14 seats, :aw: .

And you were right they do fit my body perfectly, not much moving in corners, although I have yet to push my car with em.

And my jdm signals should be coming in a week, I'm such a Ricer :), sleepy eyes, subs, turn signals, cd player thats all bright and ricey.:D
