Nice, I read about the build-up

With all the sponsorship, I wonder why not a RB30DET?

This rare racing engine is the obvious choice and I have heard of one time their was an RB30DETT (and even a TTTT)

RB30DET would be the bomb. Weighs the same too!

I am sure they ran decent times. But it was 2WD right? Did they have 4WD adaptation?http://meggala.com/RBengines/rb30detr32.jpg

I don't think there ever was an RB30DETT.. it was just a stroked RB26.

nissan didnt make an rb30det(tt,tttt) however i have seen a stroked rb26, thus as a catchy saying it was an rb30

There was an RB30E, it was in the holden commodore and r31 skylines.
There was also a turbo version available in the commodore in australia. Hybrids can be made using the rb25 head, making it dohc. Check out this page for more info...http://www.meggala.com/nissanrb3css.htm

Will an RB30DET fit in an s14? is it the same size as
an rb26det?

iirc it is taller, and will have fitment issues.

there are several threads re this subject over on the nico boards, in the RB section

Bill Roberts: i doubt they used awd, my guess is that they got a rb25det(skyline gt-s) tranny like i am gonna have to do when i do a rb240z

Thats cool. The extra casing buldge on the 26dett tranny does make it a pain to install in our cars and I suppose the 350Z. Figuring a new front axel arrangement and front shaft seems hardly feasable.

an rb30 doesnt sound like that good of an idea to me... think about it, the rb25det is just a stroked rb20 isnt it? and the 26 is just stroked even more? think about that, the rb30 is an entire litre of stroke. thats just too much piston speed for me, how can it rev at all? are the rods on these things freakin super duper pooper scooper space alloys or something? or does it just redline like a v8?

if i remember right my buddies skyline has a 8500 redline its a 1994 gt-r (i hate when rich kids get the cool cars...errr)

The RB25DET, RB26DETT has no problems with 9 grand shifts. As far as the Holden RB30E in the R31, I have heard of those running over 10 grand. Of course...you have to rob the head from an RB25DE in order to go 24V. Don't confuse the RB30 block with the RB25 or RB26 block. They are different castings.

Mckinney motorsports makes mounts to mount in any RB series motor into a a 240sx, I talked to grumpy(gary) about it alot at the mossy meet in oceanside, and he said that the RB25 head bolts onto a RB30 block and with their mounts bolts into a 240sx. Basically anything can be done if you can source the right parts to make it work, or build your own parts to make it work. as long as it fits ;)
