View Full Version : So I went to the strip yesterday...
With my S13 and my GF's MK3 Supra...
I managed the following times, both on street tires. The S13 is awfully modified while the Supra has a custom 2.5" mandrel bent cat-back and boost set to 10 psi, rest is stock.

MK3 Supra:

:D Very happy with the results. :)

nice times, how much boost are you running on the sr20?

:D What's your setup? :) I'm not really into drag racing. I love auto-x too much, but it's sure fun to get these kind of times... What about you?

16 psi off a S15 T28...

Excellent. That means you are dynoing about 275 now eh? (hp)
I Strait line as many times as I can get to the track...shifting mine now at 6300 and I am slightly behind the supra.
Are you dumping at 3K to 4K or soft starting? I dump at 4K for my times...
Excellent work!~!

I guess. I haven't brought it to the dyno yet. So basically, my car is not really tuned. I have some more work to do to it... and some more thing to replace (preventive maintenance). I'm just happy with the trap speed.
Most of my starts are soft starts between 2500-3500 rpm. With the Supra, it was a harder start around 2500 rpm.
I didn't have a lot of traction for both cars. (235 wide street tires for the 240sx, 225 for the Supra)

[email protected] is up there pretty good. You have at least 270 to 290..It will be in that range. I revised my earlier post with some questions...repeated here for your effeciency..

How do you launch and where do you shift> are you able to get into 4th at all? Mine is the very top of 3rd (94) or the shift (point five seconds before line)..
I have a best at 14.58 and usually a 15.1 The 14.8 comes up alot. I am shooting for the 13.9 If I can get that N/A I am very very pleased.
Well bugger me, we see each others edits it is all good (IIAG)
I am hooking up with the rx7/8 crowd at a shop near me really soon (this week) and they are going to eyeball my intake and see what I have..and I will see if I can get a 240 out of it...not there yet but I have seen rail KA24E's 12 valves close to 300 in the rear..and I want to have a KAE that smokes butt. It is bored and stroked and has a different cai and H gasket. IT is doing fine for now for what it is worth.
When It blows, I am seriously considering for regular daily driver an RB26DETT. I am working on the transmission situation as we speak. The Miami Boys have them going on. That engine is better than anything Rolls Royce has ever built (perfect balance, super smooth idel) and can drop aroud 450hP to the wheels without real mods. Only weighs about 70 pounds more too!
?
I get into fourth at around the 3/8 of mile. I shift at around 7300-7400rpm. (almost to the redline, carefully trying not to bounce off the limiter) To trap at 111mph, I have to shift into fourth.
Damn!!! 14.58 n/a is incredible... what kind of setup do you have????
Bill, I must say that your car has far more impressive times than mine... I can't believe you actually made the 12v KA run 14 seconds! Must be a lot of work!! Must also require a lot of knowledge... Congrats to you!

It is a 12 valve KA24E. It is bored 40 over, and stroked (crank replacement) and with a cam of unknow origin. We measured the CC when I had the head off...comes out to 2.55Ltrs. The head was ported by David Barnett (John Forces head man...they say he can see air..)JW ECU, Idle at 1100...Some unknown camshaft...(not radical but enough) Compression is over 200 per cyl on a 57K rebuild, now has 123K at this time...est 10 point 8 to one and it gets off the ground on a 60 feet at 1.78 so not shabby.
It can go to 7300 but not much up past 6500...5500 you feel it backing off some not much. I have put it up to 8200 for a brief second.
I also came up with a gas shock to bolt to the shock tower and head that to me made a world of difference in the d shift, upshift to control shock to the rear tires, not mounts. Drivablity is much improved. It squats hard.
I did some testing on air temp of the intake and use a double ram air to the air dam..not an underhood cone where all the heat comes up from the exahaust manifold.
That is about it. I am also an experienced driver so that is worth close to a second or so.
I got some nice MP3's of runs I can email...a few members have heard them. Not really self promotion here, I have nothing to promote other than the fact that the head of the engine is the key. =You= could run 11's with a proper port and polish job, some careful ecu tuning and larger injectors and f pump (if needed on the f pump)
Remember, your engine is a simple pump..more in, more out.
As SR with around 300HP have put out to over 400, KAE's have been close to 300 N/A. All then the engine head/displacement. I have almost 2.6 ..that is alot.
Once I do the next upgrade (already done it) I will dyno Wend. and hope I can borrow a scanner to show.
Anything is easy with the right balance.

Well, 1.78 60 feets would help a lot... ;) My best 60 ft is 2.15!!! Are you running slicks? I already have 550cc and a Walbro fuel pump... I might max out the turbo before running out of gaz. :)

Yep, for runs, I have niners on the rear and stock 205/60/15 on front. Flat grabbers. At 14PSI It almost totes the tires..(hyperextention on front)
Although..I ran a 15.3 with my alloy rears.
My 5MPH to 80 is insane..it is zero to 5 and the 80 to 100 that kills me.
I ran the 5MPH to 80MPH in less than 9 seconds..right slap dab in the power band dejour.
For street teasing..it murders.
Still, those are killer trap times with the 2.0 ltr. Very nice. Beating the supra time is an acheivement..they are quite fast.
Well... I don't want to discredit my car, but the Supra is barely modified... The downpipe is so restrictive, I wouldn't be surprise that this part alone takes out .1-.2 sec off the 1/4. Same goes with the stobck fmic... there's a 5 psi pressure lost in it!!
basically, that MK3 Supra with bolt-ons at 10 psi will do 13s times. My SR has every bolt-on from the elbow to the end, fmic, intake, flywheel, injectors, safc, z32 mafs, tuned ecu, torque damper, subframe spacers, and lighter weight. If I ran it at same boost, the Supra might be faster...
Anyways, considering the amount we (my GF and I) spent on the Supra to make it a 14 second car, we're very happy. One MBC, 2.5" catback and a boost gauge. That's all it cost. And we also know that it can run lower times... probably around 14.2 with the same setup! :)

hey bill you have any time slips to post? i still believe my kaE is faster :) . i doubt you have replacement crank, just one stroked to 97mm. you have mysterious info on that build to be pulling a high 14, im not calling bs, just pointing it out
