Alright so the car has been getting ready for storage and I have been aware of my waterpump recently going and some mysterious oil leak. Now the leak only seems to cover my front engine cover just below the headgasket (which is currently an APEX Metal head gasket). I cleaned the entire engine until it was spotless and then drove around just today and opened the hood (after 3-5 minutes driving), and noticed the oil seems to start from the top of the front engine cover. Not near the bottom like I figured before, here are some photos to assess, and I noticed what seems to be a hairline crack as well.

I had the same problem when I didn't tighten the bolt inside the timing cover.

SRs are known to leak oil there....in the FSM, it specifically says to put RTV along that front edge.
Did you do this when you did the HG?
I used the same HG and put a little line of RTV along that front edge and no leaky anymore!

can this be performed without removing the head? or do i still have to do that?

You really should pull the head to do it.
But I suppose that if one were SUPER ghetto, one could try to smear a layer of RTV into the crack from the outside, but my guess is that this would not work very well.
I would suggest pulling the head to do this.
Pain in the neck, but with Apexi MHG shouldn't be too bad....no head prep and you can leave the valves in, etc.
