ok heres the situation:
93' S13 Coupe with stock KA24DE. I was going to start my car tonight and it fired up...for all of 2 seconds...sputtered...then died. Tried to start it again, it turned over, but didnt fire up. so then i repeatedly tried to start it. after that i decided to troubleshoot. I smelled gas so I determined that it was getting gas...next was the spark. I pulled the first wire and tried to ground it to the valve cover bolt..but saw no spark...but then it did spark after a couple tries and the spark was orange. so then i pulled the spark plug and it was covered in gas. I plugged it into the spark plug wire and tried to crank the motor. i then saw an orange flame, until the motor fired up on the other 3 cylinders. then all of a sudden the spark at plug 1 turned blue. i turned the car off and plugged it all back in and started it again...it kinda sputtered...but this time i gave it gas and it stayed around 1100. can someone please help me diagnose my problem? thanks in advance. :bigok:

kinda sounds like a weak spark,

Ignition coil might be going out possibly?

Or spark plugs need replacing

check the resistance on the coil. a good coil will read .7 ohms

Ok I checked the resistance on the primary plug on the ignition coil and it read 1.2 ohms. Is it time to get a new one??

sounds like it. I personally would recommend the MSD Blaster SS, simple installation and a good upgrade all at a good price(~$50)

is it really ~$50? cuz i went to autozone and those bitches told me a new coil is gona run me ~$120. ima look for a msd one. if i were to get one...is it just a plug and play kinda thing? or is it kinda tricky to install? good lookin out tho :bigok:

I bought mine at checkers which is now oreilly's and it really was about $50, wouldn't hurt if you talk to a guy who's chill and get a mechanics shop discount(doesn't always do anything though cause some products have no mark-up). None the less I got it before I was getting discount there.

Install is cake, cut the plug off and hook up the two wires to the terminal on the coil and take the plug/boot off the coil end of your coil wire and put the included msd ones on. I can give u pics and instructions if you want to get more power to your coil too.

Also as I side note, I had ngk wire and burned up my coil wire, you might have to upgrade wires(magnecor 8.5mm).
