I also have some work to do in the interior, and plan on stitch welding most of the car and possibly doing tubs in the front.

Shooting to get it tuned next summer, and completely finished by next fall. Still needs alot of work, but I'll be starting on the money sucking piece of metal this week, and I'll post updates as I make progress on this current monstrosity.

Little update, did some work on the head over the weekend, took it all apart and smoothed out the intake runners and ports on the head a bit...didnt want to go too crazy since I dont have much experience, just wanted to smooth out the flashing from casting and take the roughness down a notch. Waiting on a some valve seals and it will all go back together hopefully towards the end of this week.

Quality parts, im sure you'll make the power you're looking for. I see you have an eManage ultimate, is that what you'll be using to tune?

revolutionz_s13
11-09-2010, 08:42 AM
No, I actually sold that now and decided to use and aem ems....the ultimate is nice, but I am pretty sure that it wont be able to correct for injectors that big....and with running e85, I think it would be beneficial to use a full standalone.

I used to live in North Dakota! Dickinson tobe specific. I never did see any 240s out there. It should be getting pretty cold soon right?

Yea, the ultimate is limited and I was going to point you in another direction but you're one step ahead. Good luck with the build, I sometimes regret not going KA-T

Small bit of progress here. Got some more parts, a Skullworks oil block adapter, some AEM pencil coils, an Aeromotive A1000 FPR, and a set of Supertech cam followers (lifters). I sent the head to the machine shop for a 3angle valve job, and then proceed to assemble the head. I also put the oil block adapter on and installed the Xcessive windage tray/crank scraper, and had to do only a slight amount of clearancing for the crankshaft. Im waiting for a couple more things, hopefully the longblock will be completely assembled in the next couple weeks.

+1 for doing it so thorough. i have been working on my car for over a year now. it's like i have become accustomed to sitting on parts. and doing a KA is really awesome. Good luck. the engine is pretty easy to build in stock form, but when you get to this extent i really hope it all works the first time. keep us posted. cant wait to see it finished.

So finally had some time over the last couple weeks to get some more done again. Started cleaning out the engine bay and taking out stuff I dont need anymore. I cut out the battery tray too, that sucked ass. Also pulled the engine bay harness out so I can go through it and check all the wires to make sure they are good, and to add wires I need, and take out ones I dont. I also got everything to start getting the motor more assembled. I was like a 2nd christmas over the last week, a bunch of parts came 8) I ran into a snag tonight, I need to get longer spacers made for the fuel rail, the ID1000 injectors + xcessive mani ends up with a much larger gap than what the spacers came with for the oem fuel rail. Just wanted to let you know, I personally ran a spec stage 3 clutch when I had my KA and I hated it. I know a few guys who are against ever buying them as well a close buddy who's a nissan tech and he swears against them as well, Personally I hated the pedal feel plus it was never consistent. Just some food for thought, I figure since you haven't gotten that far down the drivetrain you can probably snag up something better before you put that in your car. Either way Good luck with the rest of the build.

looks good i have the xcessive manifold, on my ka-t as well, get rid of that fitting that comes off of the water neck, its a pita to get that hose to run to the back of the thermostat housing, i've been working with xcessive on a new design based on my suggestions, and that was one of them. You will notice when you put the rest of your front cover together that you have absolutely no room in between that fitting and the heater hose return. I am running my hose from the back of the thermostat housing to a tee fitting in the heater hose line that comes off of the block with no problems. That's how Rich from xcessive recommended to run it.

Just a heads up, but other than that your build looks on point

awesome, thanks for the head up man. So did you just get a 3/4npt plug for that hole then? do you happen to have a pic of how you ran your coolant lines?

yeah i'll take one in the morning, i actually just did it on mine a few minutes ago, and its a 3/8th plug. Then i got a 3/4 t fitting from lowes and tee'd it off of the heater hose that comes off of the block
