I was at Hyperfest at Beaverun, PA. The first one they had. The drift competition sucked at that one, but on the bright side, some goof with a bling-bling S2000 kept fudging his slides and f-ed his front bumper all up. It was classic.

well Dave (DMC) is an idiot. He left the video camera on in the car so we had no charge by the time the drift comp started. But there was a select few (maybe 6 out of 20 competitors that actually could drift) a couple of them held consecutive drifts on the whole course.
Jenne-yeah those dumb s2000's always give me a chuckle, there was a similar happening @ this event, a bunch of guys came close to hitting $hit, but one guy got on the grass and slowly hydroplaned towards the wall, plopped his front bumper off, ran over it while smoking his tires(on purpose) and then drove off.
billroberts&240degrees- the model showoff was the weakest contest i'd ever seen. one hott chick bent over showed her thong(great ***) and flashed her tatas(first time DMC has seen em that close) DSC woulda seen em too if he wasnt so busy playing with his camera and trying to zoom in.
the other three models consisted of an ok looking chick in a bikini, a really pale white chick in normal clothes, and a drunk bald guy with no shirt. they disqualified the hott chick who flashed everyone, and the pale chick took first place and the bikini chick took 2nd
IT WAS WEAK
overall pretty cool event, gotta hang out with charles(sykikchimp), and matt(mbmbmb23) as well as check out some pretty badass cars from honda challenge and american iron, an dsome cool mad tyte JDm american drift cars, mainly consisting of 240sx fastbacks a bunch were sr powered and some cool corollas, one 350z that rocked it out.
i'm pretty sure DSC is gonna post some pictures later on. he wont be back till tonight

yeah bikini contest was sooooo weak. my car placed second in the drift competition. the dude with the whit S13 was crazy good though!! wow I was impressed. there were only two SR cars in the drift comp. most of the 240s in it were pretty stock KAs. (Sr cars finished 1-2 :) ) the dude in the GS-T eclipse was pretty good too. course layout was pretty weak too. Lowes needs to break down and let us use the go Kart track for this. anyway. I had fun hanging with everyone again. im just getting back and off to see a movie. more to come later. I took alot of pics witfh the SLR so I need to get them developed and scaned so they will be up later this week. peace!!!
Hey steeles what car was yours? were you driving? and where were you at the event?

Hyperfest was good stuff. It was hella hot outside. $2 for some water....HELL NO! I will have to agree with everyone that the white s13 w/ silvia face was pretty damn good. The guy in the 350Z wasnt that bad either.
Oh yeah, Charles, thanks for letting us crash at ur house.

I was there. Hung out with Steeles and the Atlanta guys mostly. Mebbe I met some more of you, I'm bad with names.
Really sunburnt and tired; and glad I'm home.
wow we should have made a thread like this before we all went so that we could have hung out
there actually was a thread like this. you even replied to it, haha. but yea...
weekend was awesome. i couldn't drift worth of sh1t, but open diff will do that to you ;) it was great to get some actual track time. definitely worth the long wait, money, and baking in the sun for the whole day.
big thanks to charles for letting my friends and i stay at his place. i didn't stay for the awards or whatever. so the s13 coupe got 1st, tony-driving-steeles' car got 2nd. who got 3rd?

Hey guys, I was there. I was the one with the straw cowboy hat on in the afternoon part of the day. I might have spoke to a couple of you there. I know a grip of the 240's stayed at the Mariott where I was (was rollin in the black cobra parked there). I'm actually kinda ****ed that I didn't hussle and get my car out there. :bash: Congrats to the people who placed and I hope all had as good as a time as I did. Maybe I'll see you all at the next meet. Oh, and the girlie show was the definately worst I've ever seen. Can't believe the first girl got DQ'd for doing a little flashN. Oh well, not worried about it. I'm not losing out on any cash.
Also got some pics and vid, I'll try and post some pics later. I'm going sleepy time now, just got home.
there actually was a thread like this. you even replied to it, haha. but yea...
it was prolly someone on my sn at my house but not me haha
yea i had a great time, i have never really been interested in trying to drift but now im jumping on the wagon it looked FUN anyway I think me and some guys around here may get a group together to do that kinda stuff so if anyone lives near south east VA pm me yea i wish i could have met more of you im not good at the goin up and talkin to someone ive never met thing anyway next year im going to run at lowes haha ive never tried drifting b4 in my life

Hurley.. damn man I didnt even realize that one was yours!! lol. it looks 10x better than your sig pic in person dude! :bigok:
019 - dude that spot they use for the drifting is so unfair to the NA cars. Tony even commented he didnt have enough room to burn out and accelerate like he wanted for that first turn.

I guess I missed the cool Hyperfest - Beaverun was weak, but I think it'll be better next year. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun! I'm jealous- I was tuning all weekend. Having problems with running rich - thinking of trying a super afc.
Is there another event coming up that we could kick it at?

WOW.. overall, a VERY fun weekend. I'll have some pics up soon.
Lessons learned:
- Slide control is VERY important on track. :coolugh:
- I need a roll bar, and harnesses.
- Heel/Toe is MUCH harder at speed when threshold braking from 120 to 50 onto a 90 degree corner. :hammer:
- Rev limiters truely are "Fun limiters"
- Assembling whiteline endlinks is harder than actually installing the bars.
- EVO's are slow and dangerous with crappy drivers.
- The nut that holds your rear strut to the knuckle can be substituted with an open ended lug nut. hooray! (Frankie is the man.. don't know his SN.)
- There are local ordinances about public nudity! who woulda thought?!
- Tim, Brandon, Russ, and Jerome... all pedofiles. :boink: too bad mommy wouldn't let them play at the hotel. LOL.
019, S1lv1a - Anytime, you guys are a riot.
Steeles - I'm betting you and Russ were behind Jerome calling me at midnight looking for a strip club?! I didn't get the msg till the next day. sorry.
Yea I'm definatly going to beaver run next year. Steeles were you riding around in a s13 fb? Is anyone else going to beaver run? i know its a long time away but i really wanna see some real life driftin.........and some real life "tatas" haha. I didnt realize so many people there were from zilvia we should have a barbecue at the next one(free food because that place was expensive) also good job to the people i met from zilvia, charles, only watched him do one of his drives but he was good, and matt boostins13 he was driving someone elses car and still did good drifting. and everyone else that i didnt meet there

yah, that blue Evo is in High Tach with us. he's still learning, he's a former ricer i think. at least he was properly converted, right? :) what HPDE are you in Charles?? ill be going to the next for sure, hopefully without a limiter. i dont think it'll be as big a problem on CMP though. ive got a few pics of some of your guys cars. i hope you got a few shots of mine, b/c i didnt get but one and its kinda blurry. can anyone hook me up??

HPDE 2.. they had to run group 1 & 2 together at Lowes b/c they didn't have enough entrants.
CMP should be fun.. Make sure you have some good brake pads. I hear that place is hell on brakes.
Did you get that fuel cut figured out?

no sure didnt. i put the wire back together and teh car still wouldnt fire. so i plugged all the sensors on the tranny back in, still wouldnt fire. so i unplugged them, the ECU, and the negetive battery terminal and left it for about 15 minutes. then, i reconnected the ECU and battery (but not the tranny sensors) and the car fired right up. i dunno what was wrong, but its fine now. i was scared, haha :) ill try and play with it here some.

08-25-2003, 12:21 PM
Yeah, that was me.
The power is not known at this time. I just put a new turbo on it and bigger front mount. The fuel system is now running PIG rich so i'm loosing some power there. Not to mention the JWT ecu has the timing all wacked out. I need them to send another chip to fix that. Once that stuff is worked out, i'll dyno it...if JWT can't get that problem fixed, then i'll go stand alone and fix it for good.
Me considering getting rid of it is true. I'm loosing interest in it cause i got a new project. But if i do sell it, i won't do so until i get all the bugs worked out and dyno it.

Kyle, btw, how fast were you able to go on the cruise lap? It's too bad you got stuck right behind the lap car and weren't able to get any room to play. The last guy, who was in a Miata had all kinds of room between him and the guy in front. In fact the one in front of him was in the straight when he was just going through where the drift area was.

What ever speed it was, it sucked. She said she was going to do faster than 70 and she never hit 65. I was getting ****ed so i started playing. Small drifts....opening the wastegate right behind her. then she must of got scared and called in that i was driving too fast and spining tires. I was like WTF!!! The guy so spoke to me asked if i was driving at an excessive rate of speed...i said yeah if you consider staying behind a pace car fast. He got ****y. He then asked if i was spinning my tires...i said possibly between shifts. At that moment a gen 3 rx7 went past and it sounded like he opened the wastegate and chirped the tires...i looked at the ref and said YEAH....just like that. Then he said well, i'll let you go back out if you drive like a little old lady. I said no thanks and told him it was lame, then asked for the way out.
Whatever.

I watched the drift finals from the grandstand...and I must say I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I've been a bit spoiled by all the Option video clips I've downloaded. There were a few performers (as mentioned in this thread), but I wish the competition was closer. I'm no drifter, but for heavens sake if you have an open diff car...or a no-power 1st gen RX7....stay off the track.

oh come on.. thats not the right mind set.. just cause they call it the "drift nationals" doesn't mean it is. When there is some better talent, the newbs will stay away for fear of shear embarassment. But I think its cool that it's getting more people to the track! :)

DSC....it was nice to meet you also. I hope you found Hickory NC...sorry about the detour thru town. ....(speaking of diffs I just picked a 95 J30 R200 for $125 from a junkyard in Greensboro!!...3 star/6 bolt output shafts and everything).
Ok...to clarify my previous posts in this thread about the open diff/underpowered people....I'm glad people get a chance to test their skills...and even use an event like that to practice...but....if I pay $20 for an event pass and wait all day in the sun to see the "main event" drift competition....and there are cars that throughout an ENTIRE run....in the final event... barely manage to chirp their tires.....please understand if I happen to say "WTF was that?". I dont know if some people were afraid to push their cars....or that they had nothing to push...but.......I definately did clap for those who went balls out...even if they didnt have perfect runs or the best cars. However...in defense of most smaller cars....I think the course was too long in the first stretch and only the higher powered cars could maintain prolonged wheelspin for the entire first righthand dogleg turn. Despite the letdown of competition...I really did enjoy checking out all the cars in the drifting pits and meeting the owners.
All in all it was fun and I have to take my hat off to those who would risk drifting their daily drivers (which Im sure many did).

drifta, i got a few vids of your drifts if you still want some more. they were taken from corner 3a. good to see you up on zilvia :)
mbmbmb23, i understand what you're saying about people carely chirping their tires and whatnot in the "main event", but it might've been the first time for some people to actually be on the track. getting track time is always good and a good way to get better. definitely better than having people drift on the streets and causing serious damage to their cars, themselves, and anybody that would be around. people have to learn how to drift somehow... that and we paid $60, had to wait all day in the sun as well, and only got 6 runs. i personally had a lot of fun and thought it was well worth it. and after watching vdo's of myself, i've learned a few things.
on another note, does anyone have videos of my pratice runs?

im 99% sure I got everybodies runs.. all of them... the practice runs arent that great because of an annoying fence in my way.. but except for the 1st timers that just weren't getting it I think I got everyones...
