I am currently building my first SR from ground up or should I say from Top to bottom.
I already have every part of the head, tomei solid lifters, tomei 280,12.5 lift pro cams etc. The thing is I don’t know which bore size and compression should I use if I want a high boost, high revving engine. Besides the piston size which turbo would be good for 600+hp? I know there are other things that are going to break at that mark but I’m focusing on the engine right now. Any input would be appreciated. Just in case I just like highway pulls and drag racing. ; )

If you want 600 HP+, first off you are going with the wrong engine.
I'm sure you will hear this from just about everyone.
For that HP go with V8, RB25/26/ , 2jz etc.
You will spend much more than that trying and breaking things in the SR to get that type of HP from a 2 liter engine.
You know... you might even be better off with a KA-T. Just saying.

its doable, but honestly another platform would save you $$'s in th long run. you should ckeck out roidmonkeys build he hit 701WHP here is a link to the dyno the rest is up to you to use the SEARCH function.

Haha KA-T is not an option but thanks anyway I know other engines would hit 600hp easily but that's not the point though. I love challenges and the way people react when someone wants a 600hp SR20 but then when someone gets there the reaction is priceless ; )
Thanks for the link!

Bottom end wise...depends on how crazy you wanna go. From the head built, sounds like you want to go high RPM. Hit up Mazworx and see about getting their 91mm stroker kit and sleeve the block.
Just realize that you shoot for 600hp, this car is pretty much worthless for everything else other than drag.

Thanks, other than drag and highway pulls I don't want the car for anything else. I have another sr 240 for going sideways ; ) I'll let you guys know whenever its done. For now I'm stock with a GT30 as soon as I change my setup then I'll shoot for high hp. Later

Only thing is that like already stated...for a drag setup, it would be cheaper, more reliable and have alot more hp potential to go I6 (RB or 1/2JZs). An RB25 can handle 600hp on full stock bottom end. Slap a damn HX50 on and all the supporting mod...600hp easy.

A Highly responsive 450-500 whp from an SR will be a light car/platform and extremely violent acceleration with good driving skill you can pilot the car into the low elevens even high 10 second range (500whp levels)...
If you have never owned a car with more than 300 WHP then you are in for a surprise at 450-500 whp with an SR. 600 whp RBs would be a good way to go...the RB26 in particular also.
It all depends on what you are really trying to do with the car. If it's drag only then I would go with Rb26...if it's all around fun the SR with mild bottom end upgrades and a great tune with a GT30 series turbo will get you to a verey responsive and violent 450-500 whp which will be just as fast as many of the laggier 550-650 dyno queen setups out there...
You can hit 450 whp on an SR with out any upgrades to bottom end oem gear if the motor is in great shape, I have built a few 500 whp SRs with stock bottom end. If you upgrade - upgrade the pistons and rods, keep the compression ratio stock on the motor and go for 264 HKS cams, Q45 TB, Lightened flywheel, high end EMS, like Haltech and have a great tuner or tuning support picked out in advance. The parts will only be as good as the tune in the end...
If I can help in any other ways let me know,
cheers

Wow, that's more like it, thanks for all the input. I'm going with a Microtech LT10 unit. My tuner is a beast with it and has little starlets in the 8s ;)
Steve I agree with you on that 500whp mark. The car had 320whp with a poor tune and to me it was fast. I just want a higher hp SR20 than one you would normally see on the street. It's not going to be a track star but I do enjoy the 1320 ; ) To me it’s better to aim high and be safe than to go cheap and be sorry later.
Yeap I’ve experienced that nasty lag because of the tune and it’s no good at all. I'm in the process of buying the piston/rods and maybe sleeves. If someone knows of a good combo let me know. Now how does the bore size will affect my built that’s one doubt I still have.
Thanks again for the input I'm here to learn so any ideas or comments just shoot.

The 500-600 marker is more than awesome goal to reach..manley rods(rated at 1000hp) are beast but as piston im personally still researching. JE is pretty nice
Also i see your location is PR...Out there, there no such thing as it cant be done..They have the first 1000hp ka-t,13b,1.8 toyota motors, etc, etc make some serious power all day..sr20 is good money with a good setup is a monster.

a Responsive 500 WHP in SR will beat many street bikes up to 160 MPH...granted you need to lighten up the bithc... I used to ;)
Bore is fine...bore away...I wouldn't stroke though.
Do GT3037S with Q45 TB and Lightened FLYWHEEL, use 950 cc - 1000 cc injector...I recommened Haltech tho...microtech is crap it's a rip off of Haltech, in fact I think Haltech sued them over it
