ok so i turbo'd my 91 ka24de with 130k on it compression was around 150 all 4. Mods were basic t25 set up with rs enthalpy tune. Motor gave up, im guessing because of the piston ring wear. I had a lot of gas in my crankcase. I only ran 7 psi of wastegate. But anyhow my question was would a rebuild stock block be efficient for a turbo set up? Ill have new OEM pistons, rings, bearings, all gaskets, timing chain and gears. Machined block and head.

Advice, opinions appreciated.

Thanks!

Not so much, I mean the timing system will always stay stock(minus cam gears), crank is only if your going high power, and for low power builds you CAN leave the rods and cams stock. You should always change the pistons and rings to aftermarket though and rods are a very good idea because the stock ones simply weren't built to and aren't to good at withstanding the stresses of forced induction.

Just save up as much as you can stand and build it right so that you don't go through this again. Change as many parts as you can for purpose built aftermarket ones.

i've never rebuilt a ka before but i've built my rb. so i'll give some input as to what i learnt.

dont buy what you really dont need.
research and find the weak points with the KA
invest in a good aftermarket headgasket
take your time putting it together , NEVER rush yourself.
