My original thread was apparently closed by someone who thinks it "blows."

Anyway, the Neishlin Motors/Cartune Motorsports situation greatly intrigued me and I decided to research more about their company.

Here is what I've found out:

A little less than 3 years ago, Edwin from Neishlin decided to import SR20DET's. Neishlin already had a name importing and swapping engines in the MR2 community then. The company was intended to be a retailer only for SR20's and 3S-GTE's. At that time, there were a number of so-called "JDM engine"and "S13 Conversion" companies sprouting all over the country. Neishlin was the one supplying them.

The demand for the swaps and the changing market made Neishlin change their retail sales only policy to a full car shop. Since they weren't skilled on the SR20 engine they turned to one of their sources for half-cuts and engine sets which is ABCD. Neishlin soon had ABCD do their SR20 customer's swap. After a few swaps, they were able to do their swaps in-house. Concentrating mostly on the MR2 market, they still let ABCD do SR20 swaps to lessen the load.

Neishlin's Mistake (my opinion)

Neishlin Motors started quite big from the start. They didn't realize the changing market and competition which in turn drove them to having to finish more swaps in a short period of time to make a decent profit. This in turn lead to lower quality that got even worse through the following months as many of you guys know by now.

Neishlin's "Good"

Believe it or not, Neishlin/Cartune has a major role on what the SR20 swap market we have today. I don't think there would be a JDM Recycler without Neishlin customers cars waiting in ABCD's garage. So many shops that used to do "Honda hybrids" were able to get access to engines, parts, and information with the help from people at Neishlin. This lead to more competition which then lead to lower prices. Good for the consumer yet bad for Neishlin. Unfortunately, they didn't realize this at first.

Companies "Know" Each Other

Isn't it funny when you hear someone say "Don't" buy from *******" 'cause "they have crappy engines" then they say buy from another supplier which little to his knowledge both engines came from the same importer? Importing companies will also support each other. When one company is in need for a specific motor or parts, it is not uncommon for them to call their competition to try and see if they have it. Importing laws made it possible for this kind of peculiar friendship.

That should be it for now. I still have a lot more to say but if no one wants to listen or think that they can do better than me then so be it.

Thank you to the people that actually E-mailed me with where to get information.

well this is kinda funny. I think we are beating a dead horse here, but what they hey. I do not know who gave you some of your info but some of it while partially true is also wrong . Oh ya I am not sticking up for anyone in this. I am mearly stating or correcting points. That said , Edwin was a employee who had say in the business . He did not make the decision to go SR's that was the owners decision and Edwin was not a owner. Neishlin like a lot of the so called engine importers did two things. They had their own source out of Japan and they used other sources like ABCD. ABCD did not show Neishlin how to do installs . In fact Neishlin had to bail ABCD out of several messed up wiring jobs on installs part in parcel for the business. A lot of these companies due business with each other behind the retail customers back.
Neishlin did indeed supply a lot of the JDM engine companies all over the country as do a few other JDM engine places here in socal.
ABCD( mostly wholesale side)/JDM recycler(mostly retail side) saw the oppurtunity to sell the SR's to the public true but it was not because they were doing Neishlins installs. Thats a laugh.
Neishlin did not hand out information to many Honda hybrid swap shops on how to do SR swaps. They wanted the business for themselves.
The only company that ever lowballed the market was ABCD/JDM recycler and they do not have any gurantee on their clips beyond start up if that.
Fact, the SR market has not come down in price it has gone up in price. Neishlin made no mistake in that regard they have always sold at their price regardless.
Fact , SR's are getting harder to get even in Japan. The Japanese even complain about the fact that american importers have bought so many of them there are less availible for themselves and prices have gone up there as well.
Does all of this matter at this point in time? Not really. Neishlin barely exists as a company anymore. Whatever Neishlin was is not what they are today.
People will go where the choose to go. I think your old thread was closed because the moderators saw it as something that has been gone over way to many times. Like I first stated beating a dead horse!
I would not be surprised if this thread gets closed as well in fact I recommend it. Why because its non essential information at this point in time. People have already made up their minds for or against. Or nuetral which is were I choose to stand.
with that I bid fair ado and hope a moderator locks this thread before it turns into a useless flame/ slander/bashing thread that it will probably turn into.

My sources want to remain anonymous but also have said that someone could approve or disprove their statements. Unfortunately, I could not reach him right now.

I have found a few people who dealt with Neishlin/Cartune when they were just Neishlin/[email protected] Maybe Edwin is not an owner now but we both can say he has greatly influenced the course of the company.

I can see no where in my post did I say that ABCD showed Neishlin/Cartune how to do an SR20 swap. I can also no relevance of your latter half of your post to mine.

Let me ask you this; Would ABCD/JDM Recycler ever have started doing SR20 swaps without Neishlin/Cartune's influence? ABCD 2 years ago was (and still is) a major importer in the Honda market.

Finally, this will be my last post here. I can still be reached on my E-mail if anyone needs me.

Thanks for your time.
