Looking for some opionions here.

i know you guy's aren't here to make up my mind, but i would like to see what you guy's think is a better solution to this currant problem.

Background - I having been building this 1993 240sx Coupe for the last 3 years with my girlfriend, it started off as your basic wheels suspension bs. then turned 2JZ swap,Turbo upgrade etc. Well we have always put off doing the paint and body work cause the car needed to run better, well now its the time to get the paint and body done. i start really looking at the car asking some body shops and friends who do it, what they think about the "damage"

here are some pics.

so here is my question, would it be easier and more worth it to find a CLEAN never been crashed/fucked with shell and put the motor/trans/rearend/interior stuff etc. into a clean car, then go from there. FYI - The car was from Arizona so there is no rust on it, just alot of bad wiring/body from the previous owner.
plus i think it would be nice to go back through and clean up and re do some of the swap stuff that i didn't know any better on doing it the 1st time through.

or have all the work done on this car? I'm just really torn i know how to put everything back in the car...i'm just not up on body work stuff.

thoughts? opinions?

I agree, itll probably be cheaper to get another shell...but the problem is that there isnt a whole lot of them left out there that is unmolested and cheap. Personally, I think its getting to the point that people need to realize these cars are starting not to be throw away cars.

I also agree. I've got 2 S14's and one is salvage title and the same boat as you are. I will also be transffering all parts into a clean titled shell later. Just have fun with what you have and you don't have to worry about nicks/dents while your looking for a clean shell.

Honestly, it'll cost more to get those dents straightened out and have the core support/rust fixed than to just replace the chassis with a clean damage free shell, but it's up to you whether it's worth the time involved in doing so.

I've helped friends swap chassis over a weekend. Not hard at all as long as you have some help.

It all really comes down to what you want.

A spare chassis would be great since you could do a ton of work to it before swapping your stuff over. Tubs, stitch welding/reinforcing, cage, paint, etc.

Find a clean shell.
BTW where did you order the pink (yashio factory?) radiator cooling plate.?

Thanks everyone for the insight, i'm really leaning towards a clean shell. or even a clean driving car seeing as how i wont be lucky enough to find a clean shell by me.

Thanks again.

i got it from RHDJapan like 3 years ago. they have since discontinued it. but it is currently "for sale"

sorry for thread jacking, but since we are on the topic i'm in a similar situation with my RB s13. the car's body is pretty clean but there is some surface rust on the A pillar around the windshield and also around the sunroof.

My question; is the rust a problem in that location because the A pillar is so important for chassis rigidity? i plan on eventually putting in a bolt in cage but that won't happen for a while, will having a body shop replace the metal be sufficient or is the chassis a goner?

i'll try and find pictures on my comp, no camera right now

i say fix that chassis, the dents dont look that bad to be honest.

and for the front end you could just cut off the bad parts and weld in some tube frame since it seems to only be the core support.

my 2 cents

Drive that shell into the ground and then swap everything into a new shell
