they aren't the same I would assume.. *not sure

If they aren't the same, then how are you adjusting for the new MAF? S-AFC or something?

Actually, the KA24E mafs is the same. The DE mafs is not however.

then it sounds like it should be fine.. (I'm not an engine guy..)

Yeah, you can use the 89-90 KA MAF

What you want to do is get the ka24e maf and the plug with some wire on it. Just solder that wire onto the SR harness, should just be color matching.

I would know cus I am running a SOHC KA MAFS on my SR. Works fine. Just need to run the wires properly is all.

alright cool..cuz i did that with the modifying of connectors and it runs perfectly fine. i was just worried if it would last or whatever

I'm not certain. I pulled a sohc maf from the junkyard because the MAF that came with my swap had a crack in it and I needed the shielded wire used on the maf connector. I haven't messed around with the mafs much but engine is seems to load up (rich) at idle every once in a while. On throttle it runs fine.

Does your car run fine on the sohc ka maf?
If so it is probably okay. I'll let you know more once I have a chance to graph out the voltage curves coming off the two mafs.

yeah it runs fine, actually better because i think the SR maf went bad.

its really easy, match colors, and splice. i had to do mine when i fried the sr maf running blow through, but thats another story. the best way, is use male and female spade terminals so you can change without cutting wires next time. i have a sohc maf on mine and a spare sr at home with the spade terminals on it, just in case. along with a fried maf as a paperweight, or more commonly a projectile for my out-o-work roomate that i keep around for that reason only. the only thing that is different is the plug. sohc maf will work fine a continue to work fine.

BayS13, excellent use of the SEARCH feature. For once I don't mind that a thread from 2 years ago is resurrected. You managed to find the info you needed and ask a good question to add to it. Well done. :D

and to keep the input coming, since i'm the one that started this thread, the sohc maf i put in 2 years ago is still good!

its not exactly the same voltage but its close enough to work fine.

I'm still using the SOHC mafs.. works perfect.

Wow, oldass thread...
