At any gear, limit kicks in at 5100, even in neutral. Everything is stock. Just did a tranny swap, everything hooked up all sesnors and stuff :( where did i go wrong.?

Hey I bet its the 5th gear speed sensor. Somehow it always thinks your in 5th.

For example, when I put it in 5th, with the clutch in and rev, it will limit it to 5100. The ECU thinks you are going faster than 112mph even though you arent, and is trying to limit the speed.

The sensor might just be stuck closed. The sensor doesnt do anything besides the speed cut so you might as well just cut that wire.

Its the yellow wire with a blue stripe. You can cut it at the tranny (not sure exactly which one it is, unless looking at the wire). Or you could cut it at the plug thats between the battery and fender (lower harness to main engine harness plug) or you could cut it at the ecu, where it goes in to pin 45. In either place it should always be yellow blue. Make sure its not the yellow green one though, because that would make the speedo not work.

Hmm, maybe try cutting at the ecu. Maybe its pinched somewhere.

Heres the wiring diagram, look in the lower left corner:

Fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks man, :D now i can really use that tranny for some fun stuff :p now, why am i spitting whiteish / blue smoke? Clogged cat? bad valvue rings? head gasket going? :(

ahh the never ending battle. maybe i should buy a CA or SR, but i'm sure i'd end up w/ similar problems

Damn, man your car must be cursed!

Whiteish blue smoke usually means the car is burning oil. If its more white than maybe coolant.

I would think there might be some smoke from your car running rich due to the temp sensor but unburnt fuel is usually a darker greyish color.

ya you have no idea, i think i'm gonna get a ring job done, i should do a compression check to, but my motor feels strong so i think its holding good.

a leak down test will tell you if its leaking at the valves, headgasket, etc...

Could also be the car running rich b/c of a bad 02 sensor.

i was thinking bad o2 also, maybe even clogg'd or screwed up cat, went for emissions other day, Doubled the the limit of CO hehe
