Haven't seen many people do this, so figured i'd show some people how its done properly. I have a vg30dett from a 92 nissan 300zx, and i'm going to implant it into my s14 kouki(soon to be kouki).
Were were at in this build:
The car is sitting on stance gt+2 coilovers, and rear over fenders, no front end at the moment. Fully gutted, I'm going to be caging it and doing the whole wiring harness myself.
Motor wise, the vg is at the machine shop getting tanked and getting the heads and block cut, i have on order cometic mls head gaskets, arp head studs, all oem internals for now, i'll be using xcessives motor mounts and transmission mounts, and going to be modifying my own pan. I do plan on keeping it twin turbo, and running them at 15psi, for an est 400rwhp.
So as I get parts in, and doing some work to the s14, i'll start posting pictures, Everything is getting powder coated and or painted, I want this car to be clean and well build, and be reliable. So lets see how it performs!

reason why not many people do this is because the VG is not the best motor. i could say alot worse things about it but this is just my opinion from my experience.
but im looking forward to this build.
good luck man !

I think this is a rad idea, I remember seeing a top speed video from japan... A company out there put a 600HP VG in a S-13 and it went something like 190MPH. I always thought that was pretty rad, I really think the only major draw back on this engine is it's size and weight. Really cool idea though.

I had 4 Z32's 3 n/a 1 TT, and not one of them ever gave me problems 2 of them i sold to my buddys and still run perfect its all on maintenance man but they can be a pain in the ass when you have to replace something though but im sure you know all that by now.

I've had a bit of experience with them too. I've never had a problem with them, except my one 300zx 3 of the injectors took a shit on me at the same time.
I just hate working on them in the z chassis, so with the motor gutted of EVERYTHING, custom intake manifolds, and into an engine bay that has about 3inches more room from strut tower to strut tower, I should have more than enough room to work on it when needed!

So today was pretty productive for the little amount i worked. haha
I started to work on the vg30dett, getting the intake polished and mildly ported. I also worked on painting and polishing the valve covers. The inner valve covers will be black were as the outer valve covers will be polished aluminum. :))
ANND i worked on the wiring, getting my wiring all situated for the body harness and the motor harness, so i started by tearing most of the engine harness apart and taking out everything i don't need, and putting everything I do need in one simple plug so the motor will just come out of the car with one plug, unless normal vg's which need 6 plugs to come out.
I'm also gutting everything off the intake manifold, and putting ka throttle bodys on it(larger in diameter). So this thing should be a beast!

Decided on oem head bolts, so i ordered a set from nissan. Also got my shifter adapter from xcessive. So now i'm just waiting on machine work and some misc things before i can put it together and get it running! Till then i'm going to be painting my engine bay, doing the body harness on my race car, and try to work on my suspension and brakes. So hopefully i can get this done as soon as possible!

Stock head bolts with Head Gaskets will handle 900hp just fine, Gregg's Engine (8 second Z) has OEM head bolts and Head Gaskets. and so did my old Z32.
Just get ARP Rod Bolts.
hit me up on the clutch and flywheel i can get you a sick deal on all the Specialty Z Stuff.

Some motivation for the OP.
VG30dett swap with a single T61 I did in my S13 and then later put in my friends S14. Made 519whp with stock motor and computer!

What did you do with the brake booster is it relocated due to clearance? If so how did you relocate and where. Did you make your own mounts and how does the shifter line up with stock 240 locations? Thanks in advance

The motor is a friends, were using it for mock up and a place so he can fix it(needs injectors and hes doing a 120k timing kit)
Fits great in there, but the turbos won't clear, so were making adapter pipes coming off the manifolds to move the turbos forward.

Working on wiring the headlights and front turn signals, the rear tails/turn/reverse/running/ are all wired up including the fuel pump, just working on all the minor stuff, I was going to put turn signals in but got to thinking about it and don't see the point of me wasting the wire. I will have 4 ways though.

i know i am waking this thread up from the dead, but can the twin turbo setup fit or does it need to be converted to single turbo?
