You can turbo the engine you already have, 1980 L28E (N47 head, dished pistons 8.3:1, F54 block)

But if it were me, i'd just get an early (pre sept. 82) L28ET.
It's built for boost.
Mechanical rockers, 7.4:1 compression ratio, P90 head (best flowing head that Nissan made for the L (debatable!)), and lots of other little things, like a beefier oil pump, webbing cast into the block etc...

if you're looking for parts, let me know.
I have literally TONS of old Z parts.

Like Bushido stated, probably the best and cheapest route is to get the stock L28ET and go from there. You should be able to find them on HybridZ.org once in awhile but are starting to get more rare. I remember seeing in the JK all the time. Shows how old I am hahaha. GL with the build.

I've always wanted one of these cars to stuff an rb into.Huge engine bays, friends dad had a 72 scarab z with 400hp 327 and 4speed and that thing was scary fast.I can only imgaine big 6 with a turbo, good luck with your project.
