Hi zilvia, I have a technical question. I've looked around but couldn't find anything even remotely related to what I'm looking for. This is for you technically trained zilvians out there:

Does anyone know the Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP) of the factory-spec RB26DETT? I'm doing an independent research study on the power-making capabilities of the RB26, but I need enough information to crunch numbers, not ballpark figures.

Also, does anyone know the relation of this pressure to the amount of fuel and air (PSI) injected into each cylinder, and the increase of this pressure caused by a predetermined increase of said fuel and air?

If anyone out there can be of help, thank you.

A pretty good BMEP resource:

Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP): The Performance Yardstick (http://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine_technology/bmep_performance_yardstick.htm)

Ah, thank you! This is very good information. I had the general formula but didn't quite know what units of measurement corresponded with horsepower, in regards to pressure, etc. I'm more familiar with a Newton Meters, and kilowatts, so quite frankly I was lost on unit conversions. Thanks!

NO problem! BMEP is certainly an interesting way to compare engines....and that site does a great job on the forumula, and why the forumula is so. Scarey to think my car following that formula has a greater BMEP than an F1 or Nascar
