does anyone know what it will be like? sounds like a contest but thats not what I really want. I just want to practice.
I dunno if I trust people who include an event called 'rollover contest'...silly east coasters. I think Ill stick to club4ag events.

I'm not really going to trip about wheather it's a practice session, like how club4ag offers, or if its like a run off of D1. i just want to see some really dope drifters, and hopefully get to run the trace, So i sum my speach up by sayying you guys should just go and watch some good drivers DRIFT and get some pointers on SET-UPS and better footwork.!!hope to see yall there.

haha I guess I'll be watching this one for sure then from what you say dousan. For only a few runs I guess its not worth it.
I wish I could be in those OPTION events and Falken events. Oh wells..I'll get there someday.

Another thing to consider... I've never been to Infineon so I don't know personally, but people have said that it's not a good track to practice drifting because there are a lot of walls close to the track. So I dunno, maybe not a good place for new drifters to practice. I might just go watch also.

Here's food for thought:
For $45 we got (at California Speedway last month):
- 4 total runs
- more than 30-35 minutes between runs
- 12:20-1:30 was our practice time, 6PM was competition
- every other series/event ran the track with no problems.
Honestly speaking, you will get more for your dollar if you ran the NASA HPDE hotlapping events. I'm contemplating on doing that instead of the drift event simply because I hate how the U.S. Drift Nationals are run (and it is such a shame to have a good name like that on a bad event).

For $100 the Option event was almost as bad as Hyperfest... I mean, we got 8 runs for $100. That was pretty pathetic...

but that's competitions. i cant complain about OPTION because i finally did decent
but i sucked at Drift Showoff (5 laps total..for 120 bucks plus some CRAP 'instructional class' with the pros..had to listen to some FALKEN idiot talk for 15 mins about not stretching tires unless its a ST115...BLAH moron).
drift day 5 comp was a 'fun competition' and i had a great time to. i think thats probably my favorite so far. great day of practice then icing on the cake at the end of the day for me. i loved it!
compettions are fun. i love it. not because i like to see who's better then who but more to see how one is advancing on a personal level. also its great to watch my friends out there give it their all and do their best! help eachother out and give pointers or ideas. i remmber at drift showoff ilearned from dorifto about ebrake drift, i had never tried such until then...

How long/#laps was a run?
Dousan_PG

i watched video of it...around 30seconds to 45 seconds i believe
or more if you spin a lot---not good for competitions

Only 1 lap per run? Then its like $10 per lap! Yikes!

08-19-2003, 02:19 PM
yeah that is pretty bad...even the autocrosses we run at are 4 laps for $25...which is better...4 for $45...hmmmmmm
damnit..i just want more track days...:bash:
Yes that is something to seriously take into consideration. Sears pt has a lot of walls very close to the track and not much if any run-off space. Its a dangerous enough track just grip driving, and personally I know I'm nowhere good enough to even think about drifting it...

****! Stop complaining and start supporting. You don't like it? Then don't run.
Drifting is so small right now, Later and sooner if you keep supporting events like this you will soon find out that you're one of the guys that supported USA drift events.
Ill be there, Look out for a stupid corolla.
supporting event is cool and all... but always remember who u support. u don't want them running away after the hype of drifting has cooled off.
this is not japan, drifting will just become a background sport after the hype is done. not like japan, they have thousands of followings. support those who you think will stick with us till the end... put your money there. remember who runs around the track making sure you have track time not because of your money but because they care about the scene.
as far as the hyperfest, competition is good practice under pressure. at first to me, $45 for an event isn't bad. but we got hit with another $15 at the tracks. so that's $60 for couple of laps... to me was not worth it. we basically are in the tracks during the hottest time of the day - noon.... competed when no one was around anymore... pass 6pm. i felt like the drifters was the step child of the motorsports. how can you develope drifting to the public when no one was there except for our friends?
seriously, if your cause is to help the society expose to what is drifting then put it during peak time. just like a good tv show on trial runs... try it on peak time and see how they react. if you believe in what you're making you'd take that risk!
boooooooooooyah to drift association! finally someone that cares about us.

I might be complaining, but I have to voice my concerns as to why Hyperfest gave all of the drift guys the shaft at the California Speedway event. Every other series was running on schedule, and when they didn't guess who got pushed back? Us, the drift guys.
They hyped up the "U.S. Drift Nationals" so much, but when it came down to the the competition had less than 75 spectators on hand to watch. I don't see how/why Falken has to sponsor an event that is so poorly organized (the drift portion of the whole weekend), and compared to other events I have been at this is quite possibly the worst ever drift event in terms of organization.
I support USA drift events that are put on well, with both a show of support from attendees and a show of support from the party that puts it together. With that said, if you are looking for seat time this is NOT the event to attend. It is a competition, pure and simple, and it is a $45 event that has far more risk than any other open track day you will ever attend.

AMEN to that!!!...i think it shows just how true they are to the sport when the people who run the backing organization are also the ones having fun and driving at events with all the participants..i always feel more like a peer then anything else which makes me smile..:D
