View Full Version : lots of clunking, and possibly bad hub (bearing)

okay, so i have 2 problems, same spot (rear passenger side).
every time the clutch is in and im not applying any power to the rear end by any means, i get a clunking over bumps or if i engage the clutch again.
but if the clutch is engaged and im hitting the gas and accelerating it doesn't do it.

and also, im guessing this is a different issue, but they all kinda came around the same time so im including it.
it sounds to me like a bad wheel bearing, but my wheel doesn't have play.
and neither does my axle. but when i go around 50-65 it vibrates pretty violently, and i can feel it in my steering wheel a lot.

it used to make a grinding/whining noise in the rear if turned to the left and applied weight to it.

let me know what you guys think, everything seams tight and legit underneath it, and my bushings look decent.

Definitely sounds like a wheel bearing because of what you said here:
it used to make a grinding/whining noise in the rear if turned to the left and applied weight to it.

But the other things you said I can see how a wheel bearing would affect those.
It might just feel clunky in the rear when you're off throttle or in neutral is a good description of my past experience.
