excessive heat from center console

Its a KA24DE

I've been getting excessive heat from the center console area whenever I hit the freeway and drive for about 20mins +...

I've searched around and some cars just happen to be that way. I've wondered if it could be low transmission fluid or something else from the transmission.

Is this normal?

Any insight would help..

check the boot under the shifter trim, see if its torn? i did my 5 speed swap without using that rubber boot and i could feel a shit ton of heat from the transmission

if you haven't removed any heat shields or changed exhaust setups or anything like that i'd check your transmission for leaks and make sure you arent running rich and overheating your cat.

I can only really feel the heat from mine if i stick my hand down in the shifter boot.
