Thought we should start a thread for each motor provider so people can check out this before they buy...

Anyway, i recieved my clip yesterday from Venus, i was told would have no body panels or anything, and thats how it came, it was wrecked in the front (jap) passenger side, so the SMIC was crushed some, the radiator had a crack on top, a few hoses/pipes were messed up, BUT they sent me along w/ it another SMIC, Radiator, piping, tubes, cluster, driveshaft (dunno why) and an ignitor b/c the connector on the one included was cracked...
i believe that is everything... looks in decent condition
i bought this from the 240sxforums.com GB for $2640 shipped to my house ($2000 +shipping)

Purchsed RB20 from them JUne 18. Received it July 18. BAsically I called to order clip. They had one left. I sent them money. They call me back two days alter saying the clip was junk and parted out. I could have a refund or wait. I waited. THey went on vacation JUly 3-9. Shipment reveived on the 10. Clip shipped the 11th Received at my door on the 18. No body panels. Everything else was great. I was suprised how clean the block and oil pan were. I almost ate off it (j/k but it was real clean). My only complaint is I didnt get a gauge cluster. Not a big deal. Clip started right up and has been running good. No probs with it yet. My only disappointment was I didnt get any aftermarket goodies. Nismo241 got all kinds of ****....I am jealous....j/k. Overall very good transaction

1200 plus 636 shipping to North Dakota plus 75 for crane service. No one in my state had a lift gate. So I had to hire the deliverer of the hardware store to bring his big *** crane to set me clip in my garage. Not Venus' fault my state is backwards

I didnt get any papers for either. I have a sticker on ym car that reads 100,000 km though. Not sure if that is the mileage or what. I didnt get a cluster. And they told me the compression was good and I took their word for it. The KM may be high to some (Im almost 100% sure someone will chime in with something to that affect) but 62,500 or so miles doesnt bother me. I will eventually get it rebuilt, but for now, it is good enough to for me.

We went up there to get prices/ pick some stuff up and They had mileage in km written on almost every clip on the body panels. Most of them had clusters.....

The clip they gave us they offered to do a compression test before purchase.

I forget what they charge for the S13 clips now, is it 2500? I have dealt with them long before the SRs were super tite. Believe it or not my buddy got his SR clip from Ronald at Venus for 1500. Thats about two years back. But they are a pretty good place to go. Ronald's a funny guy, you don't want to get on his bad side, because he can be a real prick. Otherwise, good place for JDM tightness.

Do not buy a clip unless you are there to pick it. It's hard to get screwed when you are there personally......

Iron out EXACTLY what you are getting.

I remember those days. Should have taken advantage of the prices back when SR's weren't popular. But I just thought they'd stay the same cause I was like "no one's gonna catch on to 240s" Ha, now I'm eating my words!

LOL....great advice:rolleyes:

That is all good for people who live on the east or west coast or in the south. Do you know of any reliable importers in NOrth or South Dakota, Minnesota or Montana????

I've said it before and I will say it again: DO NOT BUY A MOTOR UNLESS YOU GET TO SEE IT FIRST.

I dont care how far you have to fly. DO IT. I flew down to LA to see mine to be sure of what I was getting. I have seen far too many people get screwed on motors and I wasn't gonna join the club.

Airfare right now is really cheap so you have no excuse. And consider the amount of money you will spend, not to mention wasted time and effort to fix a broken/incomplete motor. It is worth it.

Also, yes, Venus used to sell halfcuts for $1500 and include panels for an extra $500 for redtop SRs before SCC did their little article. Then naturally demand increased and they raised the cost...

I personally would not buy a motorset from Venus, but again the saying goes - YMMV.
