A little background first. I just recently finished putting in a new cat, exhaust and header on my 240. I also removed the egr because the header wasnt compatible with the egr. The 4 or 5 hoses that go to the egr system havent been blocked off yet so that might be the problem. Also when i started my car the o2 sensor was smoking and i could hear a leak from the cat but thats probably cause i ripped a gasket on accident.

So my problem is, when i started the car it idled at between 1500rpm and 2k rpm and after sitting for a minute the idle was fluctuating a lot between those rpms. Could the idle be high from the vacuum leaks that i havent plugged? Also, my o2 sensor was smoking, could that be just from grease on the sensor itself? cause the header i bought was used.

Just trying to figure out my high idle and if the vacuum leak/exhaust leak could be the cause of the high idle. Thanks

ok yes those vacuum ports have to be sealed...
did you remove the iac aswell???
the o2 sensor smoking could be from grease liquid wrench, many things let it idle for a few minutes and watch it until it stops shouldnt take too long

if there are any lines that are still pulling vacuum you should cap them off..the only line i capped off were right next to the AAC valve..what all did you remove when you took off the egr? any of the other emissions junk? bpt valve? the two solenoids on the back of the motor? aiv case(i hope)?

i removed the egr piece that has the hose going from the exhaust manifold to it...guessing thats the solenoid, and the pair/aiv box thought thats where i had to put the resistor but found out i have to do nothing to that. Another question would be do non california 240 models have the egr temp sensor? if not where do i put the resistor, and i cant work on my car till wednesday so when i do ill block off those hoses and hopefully ill see a difference

by hose you mean pipe right?..there's no hoses that go to the manifold.. the solenoids are behind the back of the valve cover(there's two of them, they have connectors, just unplug and take off)

im sure you can figure out the rest on the intraweb..good luck..have fun
