View Full Version : removing exhaust silencers?

holy shit these silencers on my trust dd seem to be stuck forever. i've tried pb blaster and a coat hanger, but they dont seem to ever come out all the way..
anyone have a suggestion?
i've heard of people renting and using slide hammers, but where would i rent one from?
try autozone.
next time use this.

drive around until it gets nice and hot then turn a can of air upside down on the silencer itself and go get in the car and rev it.
thats what i did lol.

Get a slide puller with the hook attachment. Slide it in the center and hook it.
drive around until it gets nice and hot then turn a can of air upside down on the silencer itself and go get in the car and rev it.

This will work: With the exhaust still hot or warm, Grip the inside lip/edge of the silencer with pliers & twist while pulling it out. You have to twist, otherwise it wont come out. It also helps to use a lubricant like WD-40 or Vaseline.

that worked for one of the two.. the other one wont budge :/
also, i got a slide hammer from autozone, but when i just opened up the box there was nothing to screw on the end.
