yea that'll fit. but with the 48mm, you're gonna need spacers if you ever go with 300zx brakes. I suggest going with the 42, it'll fit your fenders better.

but they don't come in 42, the lowest is 45, and what do offsets mean? will 45 rub? i know offset decideds if your wheel sticks inside the fender or outside, but how does the #'s work? most imortant, will 45 rub on my car?

Well stock, the offset is +40. I plan to get 16x7.5" wheels and am looking for around a +35-32mm offset. This will push each wheel out by about 1" on each side for an overall increase in track by about 2".

Positive offset is the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface in the direction to the outside of the wheel. So zero offset would have a mounting surface along the center line of the wheel (on a 7.5" wide wheel, it would have 3.75" from mounting surface to the inside edge of the rim, and 3.75" to the outside edge of the riml).

So if you have stock 7 spoke wheels on an S13, those will be 6" wide with a +40mm offset. Going to 7.5" wide wheels with the same +40 will add 1.25" to each side of the wheel. Going to a +48mm offset will make them move to the inside of the car another 8mm and will probably no longer clear the strut up front or will be very, very close.

Search the tire rack web page and you should find info on offsets. As a rule I would say stick with +40mm or less and go as low as +32 or so in the size you are looking at.

will wheel spacers help? i've heard bad stuff about them... is that a reputable place for spacers? and what are som enegative effects?

Well beyond about a 5mm spacer (a spacer being a simple round piece of metal drilled to fit over your wheels studs between the hun and the wheel) you are getting beyond the length of the hub. Our wheels are hub centric so when you mount the wheel the center of the hub holds the wheel in place, as do the wheel studs. At least this is my understanding. Also too much of a spacer (maybe greater than 10mm on a 240) you are decreading the length of the stud that your bolts can grab onto.

In general I'd say unless you are getting some killer deal on used wheels or have some from an old car, (in this case enough to offset the cost of hub centric spacers, and new wheels studs) get the appropriate offset to for the car, rather than a wrong one and add more to parts later to correct the problem.

well, 'cause i found this site machiii.net is having a special for the rota subzero's for 550 for 17" and the weight like 16 or 19 lbs a peice, wow, i have to say... so it's a fat deal.. unless someone gives me a wheel suggestion that's OK and under 600 bucks com'on guys

also, i've noticed my front wheels are AWFULLY close to my strut's bottom thingie, it's like less then 1" away from it. does that mean i can't get a bigger rim or else it'll rub against my strut?

The Rotas are a copy of the Racing Hart CP-035. You can get those in RWD offsets but they will be expensive. Just know that inexpensive wheels are Honda wheels. Until it is profitable for wheel manufactures to sell their RWD offset wheels on US shores, you are going to have to shell out the dough to the importers (unless you like that pushed in wheel look and narrow 7” widths).
