Has anyone got their car painted by these guys? I was wondering because, when i get my kit and wing, i'm most likely not going to have 2000+ to shell out on a new paint job, and earl schieb has a $380 special...
Do they do THAT bad a job? I just need something thatll last a year or two (probably less than a year) until i can pay for a real paint job.

Maaco hahahhahaha!
Stay away unless you're selling your car
A friend of mine used to go thru cars pretty fast, and said the easiest way to dump the car was to get a "Maaco paintjob". They do like 2 coats, enough to make it appear decent. The paint would like less than a year by far. Maaco is shite man, but they don't BS you about it, I'm sure they know the kind of service they provide
Since u said u want something to tide you over, I guess go ahead and do it, but I'd just do without and save my $$$ for a really nice paint job. Throw the $ you'd spend into a savings account and earn interest on it for something really nice (Mmmmm.... skyline GTR blue MMMM!!!)

I just painted my Integra at Maaco. Everybody thought it looked awesome for a $200 paint job. They just do one coat and it isn't great but it looks a lot better then old factory paint.

I my integra at earl schieb and 6 months later it was chipping and peeling off. Do your own prep work(sanding, bondo) cuz they said they were gonna but when I saw this exploder that they just finished they didn't even bother to scrape of the glue from the emblem and just painted right over it.

is sanding as hard as it seems, is it possible to sand unevenly in some areas, leaving me with a wavy body?

Im not a painting expert, but I did paint my old Corvette front to back in my garage. Sure.. I turned everything in it Competition Yellow, but anyway...
It was a 3 day ordeal. Sanding, wetsanding, priming, wetsanding, painting, (about 6 coats) then the steel wool, clearcoat, wetsand, (2 more coats of clear.
I thought about the Maaco paintjob, but an aquaintence I know works there. He said they dont even sand the old paint off. They have a special wash that pits the old paint, and acts as a shitty primer, then paint 2x over that, and touch-up sand the runs in the pain. Most people, if they had rust on the car, the rust would run and stain their new paint, and the paint would wash off in the rain after about 6 months... just crap. Stay away.
