125k, $3k, perfect paint till i curbed it at the insurance agency (big *** hill), new tires, one owner, one driver, dealership oil change every 3k miles, interior pristine. all that waiting and searching payed off. fails NOx emissions, .250 limit, .250 reading. sucks, eh? its got a rough idle, hasn't stalled but dipped real close once. i'm thinkin O2 sensor, anyone else got an idea? check engine lights not on, so its not throwing a code, right? can i test the sensors to see what it could be or do i just start replacing them?

ps. the husband was in the car when test driving, yelling at people calling them idiots and threatening to slap them for cutting us off. i'm thinkin hes kinda dim, he doesn't come off as too bright. so we're in his den drawing up the bill of sale and i see a patent on the wall, and ask about it. guy has 7 patents, hes a cardiac surgeon, teaches experimental surgery at harvard medical. first impressions aren't worth a damn sometimes.

I think NOx emissions being high are a sign of non-working EGR system.

EGR systems suck though, and since you seem to be right at the limit, just keep trying until you pass, and maybe experiment with some gas aditives and different octanes or something. ;)

im thinking the EGR valve too

but try this..
clean your filter and your throttle body (did this and fixed my idle problems)
and check the o2 sensors also
