Hello everyone,

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to get some opinions on which is a better drifter (an s13 or a z31) and why ?

Datsun 510 with an SR20DET in it actually is a killer driftmobile.

I drove one.

Getting rare.

The S-13 will out handle it with the indepedent susp.

between the two cars, the S-13 is much better than a z31 unless you dumped an azz load of money into lightening the z and completly upgrading the underbody.

does anyone make IRS setups for the 510? I freaking love that car but I hate live-axle. Heck, a KA in a 510 wouldn't be too shabby...

Um, dude, 510's have IRS stock. Actually, the z31 shares almost the same exact IRS setup as the 510... I'll try to find a pic for you.

Taken off z31.com (give credit where its due), this is the rear IRS setup of a Z31, the pl510 had a very similar setup.

Oh yea, and to answer the original question, IMO, the s-chassis multi-link rear suspension is a HUGE improvement over the z31's trailing arm/mcpherson strut hybrid shown above. Obviously, with some work, either can handle great, but the s13/s14 gives you a better starting point.

both suck!

cars dont drift

drivers cause drift


its all about the driver


a good driver can drift most anything

a bad drivers (aka 'driftas') "drift" into people's houses after shooting across 3 lanes of the road.

i'm going to close this thread for 3 reasons:
1. drifting is about driver not car
2. poll is NOT spelled 'pool'
3. this is a 'pool' in chat, instead of 'Polls'.

S13 would likely be the neophyte's best choice due simply to decreased weight.
