Ok well i bought a brand new Tomei exhaust manifold for my sr20, cool yeah i know... Yesterday i got it in and well today i was testing my greddy turbo elbow and that motha fucka wont fit. Ok news to me tried a different elbow bitch wont fit tried a different elbow bitch wont fit tried the stock oem elbow bitch wont fit. Its hitting the block and there's no way it will fit because the tranny would be in the way. Im typically not the one asking shit and i google the shit out of this one and the only conclusion i can come up with is that Tomei designed the manifold so that the only exhaust elbow that will fit is theirs. If you ask me that's fucking genius but gay in my part because now i have to sell my greddy elbow to only buy one of theirs that shit is FUCKING GAYYYYY..... has anyone had this similar problem????

ahh its not hard installing a turbo manifold lol the fucking elbows wont fit for shit. It seems like im having the same problem as this guy here http://zilvia.net/f/s-chassis/338849-pbm-cobra-downpipe-forced-performance-combo-install-problem.html
but hes not using the manifold i am so i dono i wish i had a tomei elbow so i can see if it would fit.

Sounds like your trying to use CA parts on a SR...

Oh you own a tomei manifold and a greddy downpipe you fucking dick. It's pretty common knowledge without their elbow shits going to hit the tranny tunnel. That's why I don't have one. Otherwise I'd have to cut up and re-weld my pbm cobra downpipe.

First mistake is that tubular crackafold. It's the turbo god's way of saying 'sell it, extrude your stocker, and enjoy'

its relatively well known that the tomei expreme manifolds move the turbo back towards the firewall, and angle it differently. and, as you now know, pretty much only their elbow fits this configuration.

expensive lesson to find out.

tomei manifold = 600 dollars
greddy o2 housing = 300 dollars

Realizing the two don't fit in the car, because he forgot to search = priceless

hahahahahaha ouch cody.

meh. if i didn't know better, its not something i would've searched heavily about beforehand.
the tomei ads for their manifold don't exactly tell you that "oh btw our shit only works with our other shit".

question, does this mean the tomei 02 housing will not fit using the stock exhaust manifold?

Wait wait wait hold up... i used a tomei manifold with greddy dump on my old redtop and it fit fine, i dunno whats going on with yours maybe they've made a revised version since then or something ????

I use a Tomei manifold with Greddy elbow and have been for years now.

I have also taken the set up apart personally at least 6 times now and it goes back on and fits everytime.

So yeah I don't think this whole conspiracy on Tomei manifold + greddy elbow = bad comes about.

Same, I've put together a SR with a Tomei Mani & Greddy Elbow in an S13 before. I'll try to find pix.

ok well after 3 hours trying to fuck with i quickly realized that i needed to used the 7 layer gasket and then i found out a fucking cable was in the way. it wasnt letting the manifold sit correctly so with that said everything now fits right. its pretty fucking close to the tranny but fits ok.. Know big question is my downpipe going to fit right? ill keep everyone updated with what happens..

Some people need to stop scaring me with this fitment talk. I have a Tomei manifold and Greddy elbow that I plan to use on my future ride. It's good to know that this setup works for other members.

I had a greddy elbow on both my dc sports and tomei manifolds and both would make the elbow his the edge of the transmission. All I did was take a hammer to it and knocked a clean indentation to clear it.

I later on bought a tomei elbow and it fit with the tomei manifold but barely.

good Q/C on tomeis part...

I know 2 people somewhat locally that had to get the specific o2 housig to work...hammering wasn't an option, only rewelding.

What sucks anal cavities is that i just bought the PBM cobra downpipe and was planning on getting the Tomei turbo manifold in the near future. Now i find out it wont fit together which sucks my nuts completely off. I don't buy cheap parts either so now my only option is to buy the HKS manifold which is double the cost? D:

I do not want to get anything cut and rewelded either.

I don't know your setup, but a stock manifold that has been honed/extruded and ceramic coated is better than a tubular for low to mid power horsepower applications. When you start flowing tons of gas, then a tubular one works out better. But for the most part, it isn't needed as much as people seem to make it out to be.

I thought Tomei Manifolds leave the turbo in the same position as stock? I've had it on a T518Z with some generic screamer pipe...everything fitted as stock.
