hello guys,
well I'm new to the forums, and fairly new to 350z's. I've been scoping them out for a few months now, and i'm really interested in buying one for myself.
I'm a student, and thinking about taking out a car loan, and perhaps purchasing this car here, http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
Is this a good buy? I would like to save up, invest in this car and turn it into a hobby. There is a nice car club/racing scene out here that i'd like to be apart of.
But I need tips and opinions. What to look for, what to avoid, etc. Hopefully there is some expert 350z enthusiasts that can offer me some words.

since you a student you should think twice about getting a auto loan. Your still young and fees add up(car payment, full coverage insurance, registration, ect). but if you ballin' and have funds, then go for it!

Your still in college. Buy a clean s chassis call it a day, until you graduate that is. It'll be better than paying all the fees you will with loans and being in college.

Don't blow all your cash on a 350z if you're still a student. If you're rich, then it's no problem. But, if you have student loans or rent to pay off, I advise not to get the 350z. If you want to tweak a car, like Okinawandrifter87 said, get an s chassis. We are all fond of the s chassis' potential.

He's not rich or he wouldn't be taking out a loan for the car. He would just pay the amount of the car or save up to pay it all off at once. He should just get a nice clean s chassis and not something heavily modded and start with doing a through tune up and start modding from there if he likes.

Don't buy a car. It isolates you from your classmates. Bum rides everywhere you go and get to know people. College is about networking.
If you have a 2 seater car you will end up bunned up with some chick or some dude and either end up with a kid or gay/bro raped.
Enjoy school and don't work to pay off a car loan or study too much.

You guys are a bunch of softies.
Buy the Z. Its not the best "investment" but theyre fucking awesome.
Ive had my s13 since I was 15, and its pretty cool. But even with tons of mods it doesnt even come close to my '03 350z in almost every aspect. The Z is far more civilized, faster, more refined, and much easier to drive day in and day out. All Ive done is wheels and exhaust and the car gets far more positive attention then my s13. Girls love it. The heated leather, the stereo is awesome, etc. etc. The only advantage my s13 has is that I dont mind fucking it up.
Fuck school, drop out. Atleast you'll have a cool car to drive to your dead-end job.

You have no idea what you want in life and in the words of my illustrious Zilvian brother Scott you have no idea what kind of girls you want either.
Don't listen to this one retard who tells you to throw away your money and drop out of school.

Indeed
If you have done a ton of mods to an S13 and it is still slower than a Z with exhaust............ either you need to invest in a driver mod for both or stop buying mods for your S13 and walmart.

there are definitely better cars to own while you're in college. like a 4 door or hatch so you can actually carry people and shit around. but i guess if you live within walking/biking distance of everything then it's cool. personally, i wouldn't take out a loan on a car if i had a loan for school too.
anyway... i can't see that listing. i definitely prefer 03-05 z's without the rev-up vq's. any model besides the base has a factory vlsd. when you check one out, make sure all the interior electronics work. i've had several issues with them (window, head unit, navi rom driver). that's basically it. it's a great car and i love it.
the z "scene" though is full of people that act like the z is a godly entity that is better than every other car in the world and hate anything that is "different". i definitely prefer hanging out with s-chassis/corolla/vw/stance/drift people.

These days both crowds are kinda sucky. LOL
Word to the OP though. You are in College don't go buying a Z and creating more debt. I would bet you have student loans? If not, you are lucky.
Buy a car that is not going to kill the bank and enjoy it. You will have a time for having more expensive cars after school.
Z's are indeed dope and 03-05 or a 07-08 is cool as hell but its going to cost you.
If you have to have a sports car get a 240sx or even a Miata(as long as you put a hardtop on it) Ya people call them girls cars and whatnot but seriously chicks do like Miata's. Plus they are cheap to pick up.
The other way to go is to get a mid 90s 4 door sports sedan or coupe.
Seriously you could do worse driving a G20. Plus it has the SR to boot. LOL
I know its FWD but it was British touring car champion!

Lets see.
Make college go by faster, buy the Z with a loan, then pretty much live to pay off your Z. By the time you pay it off, college is done. :P But you'll probably miserable by then lol.
Then there's the safe road, just take it easy. The money will come, the cars will stay.

I didn't buy my first car until after I graduated college and landed my first job. Enough of the senior members have put in their 2 cents about what you really should do but kids are kids and you probably won't realize the mistake you make until you actually make it yourself.
If you don't have to pay for college yerself, and you're living at home and/or plan on having a part time job along the way so that the only burden you have is a car loan, I'll play along with your post and say that picking a pre-owned 350z is a very good choice of a car to begin with. You could essentially have a lot of fun driving it stock for awhile, and then as you learn more about handling and driving the car, you can slowly start to mod it. The only problem with a 350z is that it's strictly a 2 seater, although I've had 2 very skinny girls sit in my passenger seat before...but that's a different story. Mebbe you should opt for the G35 instead. I promise you that you will have instances where you need to cram 6 people to go to a function/party/event/game/etc and not having the backseat is uber fail. I'm sure that since that was all the rage a few years ago to get a G35, you could probably find a used one on the cheap. Lowest I've seen around here is 14k for an 03, so it'd probably be even cheaper in Cali.
Lots of used college cars to buy, if your main drive to buying the car is to dump tons of money into it, you should buy a 300z HAHAHAH. All kidding aside, if you wanna get into the drift/car club scene, you can't do it with a stock car, so the members are tellin you that you can get a lot more bang for your buck doing it with an old school initial d car. But, if the 350z is the car you want and would give your left nut to have, then who are we to tell you what to do?
