hey everyone, recently i pulled my KA24de out of my 96'... reason why was because i had slipped a connecting rod bearing in cylinder 1. pulled the motor, crank was machined, all new connecting rod and main bearings, new oem connecting rod. now i never touched the harness or modified it in any way. i put the motor in and tonight and i went to try and start it. it turns but there is nothing.

now i know my timing is correct. the harness is all pulled in to the connectors. im getting spark.

maybe i should spray the connectors with electronic cleaner ? maybe the harness has moisture in it ? im stumped right now. Any input is greatly appreciated ! Thank you guys for the help !

is your fuel pump kicking on? are you sure your timing is correct?

yup i can hear the fuel pump...the timing should be good. when i took the head off to get the piston out, i had to remove the chain and camshafts but when i reassembled it i made sure the lubes on cylinder 1 were facing outwards and the cam gears were at 12 and 3. so i believe i shouldnt have a problem there.

Fuel lines on backwards?

Check grounds to make sure injectors are pulsing?

i dont think the lines are on backwards...how do you tell if the injectors are pulsing ?

Use a screwdriver to listen to the injectors and is everything grounded properly ? Are you getting fuel and did you run a compression test ?

im pretty positive everything is grounded correctly... tomorrow im gonna try the screwdriver trick and do a compression test. i was also thinking about checking the timing as well. ill get back to you guys tomorrow THANKS!

alright so i got the motor running. figures it was the timing after i was pretty sure it wasnt...ANYWAY now the the car is idling between 700 and 500 but when it jumps down to 500 it almost stalls. sometimes it does. could this be because my maf is dirty ??

Yes or a dirty ivac. I would clean them both and clean the im with carb cleaner as some simple things that could both solve the problem and are just good for engine life.
