View Full Version : Headlights?

I have a question.
Should I get a S13 Silvia Headlight conversion, or should I stay OEM and keep the 240sx headlights? I want the look, and I know that no matter how much weight is being taken off, weight reduction is weight reduction, but what if I want to spend that money for mods for the engine? What should I do?
Post your messages and tell me what you would do...

owwe owwe a Bill Roberts post, wow. Im stunned.... howdy Bill.
Yea bout the front face, do your own thing. If your really down with weight reduction, spend the next 3-4 days and almost no monaey (supposing you have the tools) and rip out your interior and sound deadening material. Sounds easy doesnt it? Call me in a week when your done and wanna die.
I dont know if your going to make leaps and bounds with the conversion as per weight reduction. Its more of a, how do I want to look deal. The weight is going to be there regardless. Im not going to say do engine work cause what you want is ghey, cause its not. But a simple truth will reveal if your trying to reduce weight, your trying to go faster. If you want to go faster the $X,000 could easily be spent gettin you from point a to point b through your engine, faster than being -10lbs. Kinda get what I am pointing at?
Break down, decide what you want. Go fast or look good. Its a crucial decision. But listen to this.
Your at ATCO raceway, 5 minutes from my house. Your in lane 7 and the next one at the gate. Besides you is a black Jetta. Looks very tame from the outside. Deep tinted windows, exhaust can and, nothing else. What is this? Test and tune? Trying his new muffler? No way is he going to beat me. Your turn up, you stage next to the Jetta. The lights flash yellow. You creep up further. Four yellows, your all staged up. You rev your engine, and see the fans staring into those gorgeous s13 headlights. Pure beauty on that clean ride. You think, maybe you should get some original 180SX tails from JSPEC.com. That would get some stares. Maybe save up for a C-West kit, or even swapping the box lights for some projectors. A new coat of paint would be the hottness, some clean onyx black after the kits on. Suddenly your jared from your thought and a sound brings you back to reality. The Jetta. Vroooooom PTSSST... vroOOOOOMMM PTTSSSSSSS....VRRROOOOMMM PTTTSSSS...
You realize where your money should have gone.

Ok, I'll remember that. Thanks alot, really.
The only problem is that I want the look, and the speed. I want my car to be a head turner, and if someone jumps in there ::choice car here:: , I want them to know they have been beat by a sweet silvia. Not a 240sx with its nast looking front fascia. You see what I'm saying?
Everybody isn't getting what I'm saying. I want people to tell me what they would do, you know? I know what I'm doing. I want to see what they would do. The only person that has really seen what I was saying is Weird Styles.

most of us don't really care about what other people are doing. We have set our own goals, and are working towards them. If someone feels like telling us about their accomplishments, then cool. We'll listen, and oogle. Will it change our plans? no..
When someone elisits what everyone is doing, they appear to be looking for someone to give them goals. you may not be doing this. But it still appears that way, and asking people to hand you goals is the easy way.
None of us respect the easy way.
Thats why you got the responses you got.

btw - my opinion is to make it fast, then make it look good. That way you don't look like a Stunna with no go for his show while your building up the car.
Fast car > pretty car (IMO)
having Both is icing on the cake.

I know exactly what ur sayin S13Nismo, im in the exact same boat as you!!
I want the best of both worlds. A nice and clean but fast 240sx.
I havent done really any mods yet. All i have been doin is maintenance to my car just to get the car itself to near perfect running condition all over. Then after searching this forum for about a month or so askin really dumb questions i have come to the realization that im gonna do things like brakes, suspension, wheels and tires, exhaust etc.
then hopefully will come the sr swap and body kit and such.
thats just me and the way i will be doing

screw the conversion(what i'd do).
handling and engine performance first!!!
first!
in details:
Suspension-
whiteline bushings all around,
replace all ball joints and tie rods,
rs-r heavy duty springs w/agx's or koni's OR
rs-r down sus springs w/agx's or koni's OR
full coilover kits like Zeal,Tein,JIC MAgic, etc, if you're with a higher budget.
ENgine:
swap in a sr20det, rb's, ca18
or
boost your current engine.
cheapest way to break the 200hp barrier is TURBOCharging!
now you're ready for action.
good luck my son
other ppl are reading the shiet and thinking... what the fok???
hey!
