I searched but i couldn't find anything concerning this...has anyone here run any kind of setup where an electric fan was used to cool the stock sidemount? Any reason why it wouldnt work?

I dont see why it wouldnt work, I was thinking about that myself. MR2's use them since the intercoolers are rear mounted.

hmm, if you find some small fans, you can attach them and it will "work" .. but it's a waste of money and time. Past 25-30 mph, it's not doing a thing since air is pushing towards the smic. Also, fitting the fan in that fender area is a biaaacth.

If anything use water spary, or if you're not running the duct, run it :)

Mr2, yeah it works, why ? look where the i/c is at, really no need for it on the sr smic.

i think its a waste of money. if u ever run an electric fan that opens up at specific temperature, u'll see that it rarely (almost never) goes off when u are driving, only when u are stuck in traffic, and there is no air flowing through the radiator. With that in mind, u should realize that ic works the same way. So now relating to the example above, its worthless at speeds and valuable at idle. But who gives a **** if u are sending hot air to the intake at idle. Not like that affects performance or anything.

the point is that a front mount gets most air from driving, how much flows over a sidemount stuffed in the fender?

A hole has to be cut in the front bumper of USDM cars for air flow, so its all dependent on the size of the hole. The stock opening is small but so is the stock intercooler.

depends on how big a whole you cut and if your using the duct that comes with it enogh for anything your running the stock sidemount with. save the money put it towards your front mount.. grap some dryer vent ducting and make a cold air ram. probably just as effective and Planb seems to like his :D
