hey guys
like my title says can you change springs from linear to progressive?
i have stance lx+ coilovers they're ok comfy... but, it gets kinda annoying when you are in so-cal roads... was wondering if there is any way to make these more comfy im already on 0 settings all around. was thinking of lowering spring rates more but, not sure if that would really make it more comfy. then i remember progressive springs are supposed to be comfy but i couldn't find much on them for coilover application.
some help would be appreciated.
thanks

Lowering spring rate can reduce how rough the car is, as can raising your car slightly. I wouldn't get too caught up in the type of spring, just be aware of what size they are, and the length...then check ebay for used ones off a dirt track car, or simply get new from Eibach or Hyperco or similar
Aside from that, nothin is going to ride nice and soft, this side of stock struts/inserts and lowering springs

my current spring rates are 7kg front and 5kg rear
would getting another 5kg in the front make the car more balanced? or even out the stiffness? i heard that you can go + or - 2 kg in spring rates on coilovers usually. my car is not to low either, not slammed like a lot of folks just enough to close up the wheel gap and allow tolerable DD.
so 5kg front and 5kg back
wondering about which spring set ups would be better for my idea of more comfy driving, but, keeping a nice stance
thanks!

THe spring type has no indication of stance, that's all in the adjustment collar, assuming you get the same length springs in the situation. If you go shorter/taller, you will need to move the collar accordingly.
In regard to spring rates, you typically can always go down in rate on damper's -- if you know what kind they are or their rating, you can go up, but it's always safe to assume that lower rate = safe.
Personally, may as well go 5k all around, or 5k/4k kinda setup. Even

i just called stance and they said the swift springs are underrated so a 6kg would be a 5k essentially.
now that i've got that locked away, i was wondering about helper springs? would that help me in an way? it seems that it would since it says it bascially gives u a progressive rate till taht is overpowered then you get the linear spring to be used.
i was wondering what kinda rates should i be looking at if i were to get helper springs? would that do anything for me?
thanks

Helper springs just help keep the springs seated in the perches and on the upper mounts, they won't make it any 'softer' per say.
Unsure how they say swift underrates springs, but that's on them, I couldn't tell you otherwise but I'd be skeptical to say the least.
Again, the progressive spring idea is a 'good one' in theory, but hte reality is that most cars end up never taking full advantage of it, and end up going to the firm part anyway - I prefer a linear spring as it's always going to be the same.
Again, if you are looking to make the ride soft, comfy, low, and nice, a good strut and spring combo may be your better option, rather than throwing springs at a set of coilovers...
