I'm about to buy a S13 240sx and it smells like gas and it gets a little less mpg (http://zilvia.net/f/#). He says it's the Fuel Pump O-ring. Could it be something else or what? Thanks.

There could be a leak some where in the lines, check all the hoses and connections. I had the same problem turned out to be the hose that hooks up to the hardline, where it enters the bay, was lose.

Are the two problems suppose to be related? A bad fuel pump o-ring wouldn't cause a car to have bad gas mileage.
Does it smell like gas only when it runs or all the time?
If it's only when it runs it might be as simple and cheap as a $20 o2 sensor.

or a injector o-ring is bad, I had that problem on the gf's old coupe.
take a sniff around and find out where its coming from then look for fuel itself. easiest way to fix it.
prolly noghting major to fix if your buying the car. just don;t smoke by it

my sr is having the same problem. whenever I open my windows I smell major gas.
also on about 3.1 gal of gas I get about 100km (62miles). about 20mpg? and that's when I mildly use the turbo.

20mpg seems low for an SR. Thats what I get in my KA.
Another thing to check is the fuel pump cover gasket.

fuel pump o-ring, rubber lines from the fuel pump, injector o-rings, check the fuel lines from the FF too! remember that they're all atlest 15 year old rubber hoses
