i've got these old wheels with some bad rash and scratches that i've been wanting to refinish for a while, but i haven't dropped the money yet.
anyone ever try something like this video?:

the outcome is pretty good and it seems really easy.
i just wonder how well it'll work on wheels with bigger lips?
opinions?

great finished product. havent done this but have seen it done
2. tape off the spokes so they dont get scratched.
3. make sure to clear coat any polished surface
in the book "how to build a cheap sports car" the guy uses this method to polish the rim and spoke faces of stock miata wheels with great results.

true.
do you think there is enough material/metal on the edge of the lips to grind down that much to get rid of the rash?

My question is, what do folks use for a clear coat once its polished? I've polished the lips off my old equips and holy shit, that got old after repolishing it every other week. I've read that you couldnt use any regular clear coat since itll turn yellow after a while.

You should just go for it! Take before and after pics too.
