Hey, all you St. Louisans...I don't know if we have ever had a meet. Have we? I think we should!:D

How about the weekend of august 15-17. Friday, Saturday, Sunday? Which day would work the best.

Friday the 15th would be good for me. I was thinking about maybe meeting on top of the parking deck at the Galeria, maybe go for a cruise through the city, and maybe eat at the food court or another resturaunt. Just a chance for some of us locals to meet each other and talk cars...but if anyone has a better idea, please feel free to contribute.

Is anyone interested???

I'm actually really new to this whole 240sx thing and just thought of this. My s14 is totally stock, will I feel like a moron hanging out with a bunch of owners of modded 240s'? Oh, and another thing...If I want to race at the autocross, what do I need? A helmet and $20 and that's all? And if I just want to watch...is that possible?

Tell me more about when and where the autocross is...

Peace
-mike

Yeah I have been talking about getting a meet together all summer but havnt gotten around to it yet! I am a slacker!!! LOL I think getting together at the Autocross sounds like the best plan. I will get with the rest of the St. Louis locals and see who all can make it. I should be able to drag out quite a few cars, there are more than 10 SR swaps in town that I know of at the moment. Mine would not make it but I can bring the 92 instead.

Dont worry about what your car is like. Doesnt matter at all, none of us had modified cars from the start! I will let someone else answer on driving in the Autocross as I have no idea! LOL

So what does everyone think of meeting that Sunday?

yeah alan youre a lazy bastard :)

you ever have that bbq?

lets just go ahead and set it for the autox on sunday...seems like the last meet up didnt work out too well b/c it took so long to set a time place...

we should also decide what to do after the autox as well, something like going to a local park and bbqing or something

Ok sounds good. I need some info on the Autocross. When does it start and stuff would be good! LOL Give me a call sometime today, I have a bunch of calls out to locals already.

We will have the BBQ later in the year when it is not 100 million degree's outside!

Someone please inform me. I've never been to an autocross and don't know how it all works. Can I just come, hang out, and watch? Will the meet be during the autocross, or after?

Is this autocross going to be at Gateway or Riverport? I'm really looking forward to meeting some fellow 240 owners in my area.

Please post some more information about the specifics of this meet. Exact time and place would be great. Someone said BBQ??? Will I need to bring something?

yes you can just come and hang out...but for $30 you can race...$20 if youre a member of the scca...

this next autox is at gateway, and we are still trying to figure out what time and all we should actually plan the get together...

i mean, all of this is up to you guys. you can throw any idea around you like, its just a small meet up....

Yeah its just a small meet so we can do whatever everyone wants. So the Auto cross is at Gateway on the 17th?

Check your PM. I left you some pointers so you can have your car ready if you want to race.

Hey, I will be up there for the Aug 17th autocross and would be up for a meet after.

mixxamike -- Come and race your car, my car is stock and I have a blast everytime. Its $30 for non SCCA members to come race, and free to watch, all you have to do is sign a slip at the entrance for insurance reasons. Registration is early, try to get there before 9:30 to get time to walk the course

I'll be there. 240-less, but I'll be there to watch.

I would really love to come and race. However, I'm 6'3" and there isn't a lot of headroom (darn sunroof). But...If I were to come and race, what type of helmet do I need? I used to ride dirtbikes all the time, will an off-road dirtbike helmet work? I guess I would have to ride all slouched over or something.

Oh,oh. And another thing, I just bought new rear tires. How hard is one day of autocrossing on tires? These are really cheap *** H rated tires. The only reason I bought them was to get my 240 home from vegas in one piece. I'm hoping these will last me through school until I get a set of 18" 5zigen 5zr's with some nice rubber. Soooo, If i'm going to have to buy another set of tires when i get home, racing will probably be out of the question.

Geez, one more question... to what psi should I inflat my tires to before coming to the race?

Thanks to all
-Mike

Thanks for the PM Bill!:)

Well, I am 6'4" tall, my car has a flip up moonroof and I fit with my helmet(with the moonroof open). Any motorcycle helmet that is M2000 rated or above and any racing helmet with SA2000 or above rating are acceptable. If yours aren't there are loaners available.

I have "performance" all season tires that I am racing on this season, they have really soft sidewalls, so I set them at about 45 psi front and 38 rear This has given a neutral feel to the car. This will be different for each tire. I have driven these tires at 5 autocross events and still have acceptable tread left, but will need replacing at the end of this year. Also keep in mind that I have put 200 miles on each time I go to each autoX, as well as many other trips to stl because there is nothing in Rolla.

So basically, I won't totally destroy my tires with one autocross?

Oh, and I have read that there are opportunities for "fun runs," if you will, at the end of autocrosses for an extra few bucks...will any of you more experienced autocrossers care to give me a ride-along. I would be more than greatful. If not, any tips or pointers the day of would be great!

And, since I know non of you, I will be driving the black bone-stock '96 240sx with really, really, ugly chrome american racing wheels  Please just come up and introduce yourselves to me. I have longer hair. I look like a pot head but I SWEAR I'm not.

-Mike

Oh, and my helmet says "Snell M95 approved" what does that mean?

wether your car is bone stock or fully modded,
attendance to the meet is more important.
do ya'll agree?

crioten
08-11-2003, 09:19 AM
yea, i couldnt care if your car is modded or not...

we should all park together as well, just so we dont have to walk to others cars just to say hi and crap...

we should discuss what we are going to do, so that its not just doing something on the fly. i know some of you want to cruise around after te autox, and thats cool too (ill prolly do it) and we should discuss where we should meet up...maybe the top parking lot at the Galeria at about 6ish (depending wat time the autox ends), then we could go into a restraunt to eat something...

CrispMofo

shoot, i've been to meets where ppl drive they momma's car there.
just attend so you can learn more, meet the nissan crew, and show support.

Lets just call the meet at the autocross the only "organized" part. We can talk about the rest with the people that are there. If you cant make it to the Autocros then let us know and get someones cell number so you can call and find out where everyone is at. I will only be at the autocross then crusin home. I have 2 cars that need to be worked on this weekend so not alot of time for play.

I can't go to the autox this time (1st local event I am missing), I am being dragged on a float trip to OUR-KANSAS (arkansas). I will give Glen a call when I get back into town, and if the autox is over maybe I will meet up with ya'll wherever you are.

alan, what time did you want to set as the "meet" time?

mixxamike
08-15-2003, 10:02 AM
so...what time should I be at the autocoss for registration and tech inspection? 9am?

Hope to see you guys there. And I agree with crioten, let's all park together.

I'm soooo excited about my first autocross!!:aw: :D

Glen can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the registration time for this event is 8-10. There was talk after the last event of moving that up, but I dunno. I will most likely get there at 9-9:30ish as I have an hour and a half drive from Rolla.

hmmmm, i kinda bolted out of there last time, so i dont know if they will change the time, but ill prolly be there at around 8:30-9:00, depending when i wake up :)

feel free to call me (314-517-8193) once you get there, just so we all meet/park at the place...

what do you all want to do after the autox? go somewhere to eat for sure, but where? and then what...

hopefully everyone grabs cameras so that we can get tons of action shots, and videos are great too :coolugh: right rennen lol

Crioten, I'll give you a call when I get there. Maybe you could help me out a bit...I have no idea what to do or how to do it at this thing.

One more question, do I need to bring window chalk or masking tape to display my car classification? Other than that, I've read all the sites and have a pretty good idea of what to bring and what to expect.

Rennen

Well, see you guys tomorrow. Its going to be HOT out there, so I will bring a cooler if anyone wants to store drinks in it. Bring lots of fluids and sun tan lotion.

mixxamike -- I don't know about the STL region, but at all the Ozark Mountain Region events they had shoe polish to put on windows. If all else fails, I have some duct tape in the car at all times. Duct tape makes good numbers on a black car.
