ok, im looking for some pillowball TC rods, and there are 3 main companies, Tein, Kazama, and Battle Version. they're all about the same price ($210-$250). which are the "best" and for what reasons??
this is for a 90 fastback, being built for grip driving.

all are great.. never heard anything bad about any of them. only advantage between them (going from memory I didnt look at each one) is the kazama (cusco clones) they include the rubber boot around the bearing to protect it from whatever the road throws up at it. might give it an advantage as far as life span of the bushing.

ive seen them all
my suggestion:
cusco--beefy and has the rubber boot
kazama--beefy and has the rubber boot
tein --thick and has the rubber boot
jic--thick and no rubber boot (i think...)---RIP off on price
bv--semi-thick and no rubber boot
overall, ITS ALL THE SAME in the long run. as long as it operates well and has the caster adjustable, its all good. more bling factor then anything else
I dono what I'm doing here but...
Battle version only has a coating on the adjustable end near the pillowball. The threads in the middle aren't coated and it rusts :rant2:
Tein (as a company) has been known to do the same thing and JIC is $$$ so, of those, I'd pick kazama.

thanks a lot guys, ive decided on the kazama rods, im gonna het the tie rod ends from them too. i just got my car recentally, and never looked at the condition of the rubber, turns out EVERY piece of rubber under the car is dead, ball joint, tc rods and tie rod ends. oh well, time for pillowballs!!

while we're on the subject, does anyone have any opinions or feedback on the projectsilvia t/c's ( http://65.16.77.30/psp/chassis/list.htm#5 )?
at a slightly lower price, they seem more appealing if they are of comparable quality.

Or how about the ones splparts.com sells? They seem nice and are the cheapest of all. Does anyone have experience with these?

i have project silvia TC rods, they have been used/abused for almost a year now, and i have yet to have any problems. as far as low end (cheap) TC rods go, IMHO project silvia is better than battle version. the project silvia rod design has a larger diameter fillet (meaning the cross-sectional large diameter to small diameter transition of the rod is smoother), which should make it stronger (if materials are the same). i have yet to encounter any rust problems, threading, bending, or any other types of failure. since i don't know the materials of these products i can't really tell which is actually stronger, but it does appear that project silvia has a higher quality spherical bearing. with no dust boot, mine has yet to rattle after nearly 45k miles. keep in mind TC rods, pillowball mounts, etc, are meant to be changed out periodically, and since these items rarely fail, i personally consider lifespan and price as the most important factors.
but kazama is good stuff.
